Elbrus Tedeev is a man with a complex biography full of contrasts. A native of North Ossetia, he repeatedly glorified Ukraine on the world arena of sports, and, representing the highest legislative power, was convicted of criminal matters … How did a simple guy from Vladikavkaz reach the heights of sports and political spheres? About this - below.

Childhood and youth

Tedeev Elbrus was born in the small village of Nogir, in the vicinity of Vladikavkaz, on December 5, 1974. In childhood, he became seriously interested in sports and was ready for him for great sacrifices. For example, it is known that, starting at age 11, the boy regularly walked 10 kilometers back and forth between Nogir and Vladikavkaz in order to get to training. Classes in freestyle wrestling took place at the Dynamo Stadium, the main city of North Ossetia. The first coach of Tedeev was the winner of the World Cup and prize-winner of the championship of the Soviet Union Arthur Bazayev.

Moving to Kiev

In 1993, nineteen-year-old Elbrus had a chance to speak at the Russian Championship, where a certain athlete was noticed by a certain Boris Savlokhov, also a native of Ossetia. Savlohov at that time permanently resided in Kiev, was a famous athlete and was well known in criminal circles. He met a fellow countryman and invited him to move to Ukraine. It is not known exactly what Boris Soslanovich suggested to the beginning athlete of such a special, but Elbrus Tedeev agreed. He moved to Kiev, changed his citizenship, and immediately started training under the guidance of his patron's brother, Ruslan Savlokhov.

Tedeev recalls that period today with nostalgia. He says that he lived then, not knowing the worries and troubles. Boris Soslanovich gave him a car, provided him with housing and a permanent salary. The young man did not need to think about daily bread, and he devoted all his time to training.

Brilliant sports career

Hard training made itself felt. Thanks to them, today Elbrus Tedeev is an athlete with a name and a large number of awards.

After working a year after the athlete-instructor moved the Ukrainian freestyle wrestling team at the Ministry of Youth, Family and Sports, in the 95th Tedeev was appointed captain of this team. And further went solid victories. Three times (in 95, 99 and 2002) Elbrus became the world champion; twice (in the 94th and 99th) - the champion of Europe. At the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, he won bronze, and in Athens, 2004, he became the "gold". During the closing ceremony of this Olympics, a Russian citizen was entrusted with carrying the national flag of Ukraine, and millions of people then learned about a man named Elbrus Tedeev. His photos adorned the first pages of not only Ukrainian, but also foreign print media.

Later, the athlete, already a deputy, will say that he devotes all his achievements to his new homeland - Ukraine. And Tedeev likes to talk about the special attitude to sport that he and his comrades had at that time. They trained almost around the clock, with real fanaticism, making short breaks only for small snacks.

Education

Somehow, in between training and competition, Elbrus Tedeev also managed to study, realizing, apparently, that the age of the athlete is not so long. In 2003, he became a graduate of the National Institute of Physical Education and Sport; In 2005, he received a law degree from the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts and then graduated from the magistracy of the Kharkov Academy of Physical Education and Sports.

Elbrus Tedeev is a politician. Carier start

The coming into politics of the world champion and the Olympic Games was a big surprise for many. And the athlete himself, apparently, did not bear such plans from his youth. Nevertheless, since 2006, Elbrus Tedeev is a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the fifth convocation. Being non-partisan, he was on the list of the Party of Regions at number 103 and passed. It was rumored that the regionals specially recruited then strong young people with outstanding fighting qualities, since they were in opposition and preparing for a fierce struggle for power. Indeed, neither Tedeev, nor his sports colleagues Arkallaev and Volkov, who also got into the Rada on the lists of the Party of Regions, were not particularly active in the conference room. But in various kinds of fights, they were noticed repeatedly. They participated in blocking and unblocking the stands, provided physical support to the participants of rallies of the anti-crisis coalition under the walls of the Constitutional Court, and so on.

Officially, Elbrus Soslanovich was a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Family, Youth, and Sports, and he also dealt with issues of interstate relations - with Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Korea, Peru, and even with the Republic of Congo.

By the way, his deputy lasted long enough. In 2007, he passed to Rada during the early elections and in 2012 he again received a mandate, already being a member of the Party of Regions.

He is known for his special devotion to the regions and an ardent love for their leader and President of Ukraine from 2010 to 2014, Viktor Yanukovych, whom he called his king and God, as well as the country's only hope.

Goloseevskaya history

Back in the mid-nineties, many believed that Elbrus Tedeev was a member of the Solokha criminal group, led by his mentor and fellow countryman Boris Savlokhov. This fact was even recorded by law enforcement agencies - the athlete’s name and other data were in the database of the Organized Crime Control Department “Scorpion”. Naturally, the free-style wrestler himself denied any involvement in any criminal groups. But at the same time he regularly got involved in dubious, and sometimes frankly "muddy" stories.

So, for example, Goloseevsky became one of the very first high-profile scandals. In 2009, in the Goloseevsky park in Kiev, there were showdowns with shooting, as a result of which there were wounded and killed. At the scene of the showdown, Tedeev’s car with deputy numbers was seen. At the wheel, however, was not the elected representative himself, but a man named Robert Tedeev.

The case was under the personal control of the then Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, who publicly accused Elbrus Soslanovich of involvement (albeit indirect) in the bloody showdowns. The deputy did not recognize this fact, and also denied that Robert Tedeev was his relative, although the latter claimed the opposite. The athlete explained the presence of the car at the scene of events by a simple coincidence.

As a result, at the very peak of the scandal, when it smelled like a quick end, Lutsenko took all his accusations back, and Tedeev came out of the water dry.

Pechersk story

Another gloomy story took place in 2012. During the demolition of one of the illegal MAFs in the center of Kiev, unknown workers attacked the communal workers and beat them. Arriving at the scene, the police also got a lot from the "brothers." And when the bandits were still tied up and sent to a pre-trial detention center, deputy Tedeev intervened for them. And the criminals were released without trial.

The leader of the "aunts"

They connect the name of Elbrus Tedeev with the so-called aunts, known for their attacks on participants in the European revolution in Ukraine 2013-2014. He is accused of collecting athletes and sending them to various tasks to protect the interests of the ruling Party of Regions at that time. What exactly were these protective measures is easy to guess.

Tedeev and Euromaidan

It will also not be difficult to guess which side was the ardent supporter of the regionals during the Euromaidan in the winter of 2014-2015.

Law enforcement officers failed to find any evidence confirming the participation of Tedeev and his people in the beating of activists. But there is a lot of indirect evidence. So, for example, on the night of November 30, when students were dispersed and severely beaten on the Maidan, the deputy, together with the well-known anti-Maidan activists Dmitry Shentsev and Nestor Shufrich, was in the office of the head of the Kiev administration, Alexander Popov. And these night gatherings, of course, caused a lot of questions from journalists. Media representatives suggested that the trinity worked through dark scenarios and even, perhaps, sent “aunts” to the square, which provoked the “Golden Eagle” to tough actions against activists.

And the fact that Tedeev led the “aunts”, who attacked a couple of weeks later with the “Berkutovites” against revolutionaries in different parts of Kiev, is almost beyond doubt from journalists.

Tedeev today

What does Elbrus Soslanovich Tedeev do today, when his king and god are no longer in power, and other forces have replaced the regionals in parliament?

He is no longer a deputy and is quite far from politics. True, you cannot call him disgraced, and the former athlete is not sitting underground. He periodically participates in various conferences on sports issues, communicates publicly with the leaders of the relevant departments, and was also seen in the courtroom of the mayor of Kharkov, Gennady Kernes, with whom he is friendly.

Thus, it can be argued that the former regional Tedeev today leads a very active public life.
