The Moscow monorail transport system as an idea arose very, very long ago, back in the seventies of the last century. But for a long time, it did not reach the realization of a dream. In 1999, the project was finally launched. Moscow struggled to hold the Expo 2010 exhibition, it was necessary to deliver its participants quickly to the venue (to the All-Russian Exhibition Center). Although the exhibition eventually took place in another city, the road was built. In 2004, it was commissioned.

The Moscow monorail transport system was conceived by the carrier of the future. It initially functioned as a sightseeing tour, but gradually turned into another type of passenger transport, of which there are seven types in Moscow. They transport up to 10 million people a day.

Why has the profile changed

Of course, tourists still love to travel along the monorail, because this type of transport in Russia is only in Moscow. It is worth saying that such roads are very popular among tourists abroad: in Tokyo, London, Berlin.

Why is there no high popularity of this wonder in Moscow? Everything is very simple and ordinary. The fact is that most of the way passes over the industrial zones of the city or residential areas, where few attractive shows can be seen in the train windows.

Still, travelers enthusiastically demonstrate in their reviews under the headings “Moscow Monorail Transport System” photos from very unusual perspectives of the Ostankino TV tower, the pond and the Church of the Holy Trinity, the Cosmonautics Museum and the main entrance of the All-Russian Exhibition Center.

Monorail today

On the line, seven small trains operate daily, namely, 6 wagons - this is only 35 meters in length and 35 tons of weight in each train. 44 seats, that is, 8 seats in each carriage, and two less in the head.

The composition is equipped with electric motors. The movement is due to the magnetic flux. The train rides along a special beam, or rather, a plate fixed on it. All the details of a domestic-made train. Designs were developed by our scientists. True, there is a miscalculation in that the weather conditions in the capital were not fully taken into account. The plate was placed on top of the beam, which leads to icing in winter and creates additional labor costs for processing the blade.

The train can move at a speed of 60 km / h. But the Moscow monorail transport system is too winding. This is due to the need to fit it into an existing urban landscape. If the presence of many convolutions is good for the brain, then for a monorail it is bad. The speed because of them is greatly reduced. As a result, the train can move no faster than 30 km / h, so it is the slowest public transport in Moscow.

The most interesting thing is that the movement takes place over the city. It seems that the car is flying through the air.

A monorail carries 15 thousand passengers per day. If you compare with the subway, then there is a daily number of passengers of seven million a day.

The cost of tickets is the same as in the subway. Go to the VDNH and Timiryazevskaya stations on a monorail or in the subway, if the allotted allowable time period is not exceeded, it is possible free of charge with the Troika card.

Stations

The length of the Moscow monorail transport system is small. Only 4 km 700 meters. The distance between stations is from 700 to 800 meters. It connects two metro lines - Kaluga-Riga and Serpukhov-Timiryazevskaya.

Only six stations have the Moscow monorail transport system. The train traffic scheme at the stations is carried out in the following order: from Eisenstein Street to the Exhibition Center, Academician Korolev, Telecentre Street, Miloshenkov, Timiryazevskaya Street and vice versa.

Reliability

The Moscow monorail transport system has the most technically equipped of all depot passenger transport in the capital.

As soon as the last car enters the depot, nightly work begins to check the entire system, starting from the tracks and ending with rolling stock. Crawlers, electricians, mechanics work until morning. So there is no doubt about the reliability of the Moscow monorail.

Opening hours

As mentioned above, part of the path passes over residential buildings. Therefore, the decision was made to adjust the working time so as to cause less concern to citizens. Opening hours are limited from seven in the morning to 23 in the evening. As many Muscovites who use the services of a monorail say, this is not very convenient.
