The cities of Tomsk Oblast are similar to other cities in Russia only partially. Located in the taiga, with the exception of Seversk, they have their own characteristics, since people live in them, mainly engaged in logging, forest processing, and oil workers. This can be explained both by the northern location of the region and the fact that taiga occupies 68% of its territory. This region is rich in oil deposits and other minerals. The peculiar beauty of these places is also amazing.

About two thousand people were affected. Today, the environmental situation remains poor, this is due to environmental contamination, however, 110 thousand people continue to live here. Mortality in the city is high, which, along with the outflow of youth, contributes to a decrease in the number of residents.
