Recently, the vocabulary of young people, and in particular, anime lovers, has been replenished with a new term. Today, the word “hikikomori” comes into fashion (more often it is pronounced simply as “hickey”). What it is? The Japanese call it teenagers who retire in their room, do not want to communicate with anyone, work or study. Such a person can calmly not contact with the outside world for several months. For an ordinary person, this behavior may seem like a sign of a mental disorder. However, there are more and more such “psychos” every day, millions of people are already counting.

First mention

In 1998, a book was published in Japan that answers the questions: “Hickey - what is it?” and "how to protect your child?". In fact, this is a manual that will help to cope with this phenomenon. Tamaki Saito, the author of the work, unashamedly, says that in Japan this has become a real problem. In a prosperous and highly developed country, more than a million adolescents (which makes up almost one percent of the total population of the state) for some reason are shunned from communication and do not want to contact the outside world.

The revelations of the author caused a real shock among the inhabitants of Japan. But if you dig a little deeper, you can see - the problem arose not in recent years.

The problem of the "big city"

If you go somewhere to the far north and talk about hikikomori, people will be very surprised. Hickey? What is this? ”They will ask you. Of course, in places of low population this phenomenon is unlikely to occur. Any guest is welcome there.

However, let's look at the situation from the other side. Huge modern cities involve constant daily communication with a large number of friends and strangers. Most often, situations in which they have to deal with are repeated. That is, a person knows in advance what he must say, what to ask, how to answer, what facial expression he should have in a given situation. And here "green longing" comes.

Add to this the Mondays that our people “love” so much (by the way, it is not surprising that Russian Hickeys have begun to appear lately). Indeed, for two days off a person simply weaned from work, and you have to merge into the system again. On such a day, anyone wants to pretend to be sick, tired. To do anything, just to not leave the house.

After all, each of us experienced this feeling: I do not want to go to work (study), I will not open the door to friends (relatives) who will come soon, and so on. That is, being hickey is normal? And each of us is a little hikikomori?

What are they doing

The main question that arises for all the relatives of a young man who suddenly became a hickey: "What is he doing behind closed doors?" The bulk will simply answer: "Fools around!" Indeed, it is true: he does not want to study, work too, sleeps until noon, spends all his free time at the computer or in front of the TV. She doesn’t even want to communicate with loved ones. Only a few phrases can be said without opening the door. And the rest of the world does not interest him at all.

Some joke about hickeys: "What kind of behavior is this? Yes, they just remembered the instructions of their parents. After all, they told them in childhood:" Sit quietly at home and do not open the doors for anyone. " Indeed, the door to the hikikomori room only opens at night. A teenager sneaks into the kitchen and eats quickly, until no one has noticed him.

How do hickeys get

This cannot happen to a person in one moment. Most often, this is the result of prolonged depression. For example, every day, at a common table, relatives share their impressions with each other, talk about new acquaintances, about their career successes, etc. All this is listened to by a guy or a girl who currently has difficulties in her personal or professional sphere of life. And every day their self-confidence decreases, they cease to believe in themselves.

This phenomenon originated in Japan. But in this country today it is very difficult to get a job, young people simply do not believe that they can find at least some place in life. However, all parents dream that their son or daughter will occupy a good position in some prestigious company, and do not get tired of reminding their children about it.

By the way, this phenomenon is not only common among Japanese youth. Recently, many such recluses have also appeared in our country. Russians no longer ask in surprise: “Hickey? What is it?" Due to instability, this phenomenon has become the norm in Russia. Young people are not able to indicate life guidelines, they have no goal, and no one wants to notice their problems. Questions accumulate a lot, but there are no answers to them. That is why part of the Russian youth just wants to hide from the whole world and not answer anyone.

It is worth noting that while the behavior of the teenager did not differ from generally accepted norms, no one noticed him. However, as soon as he found a peculiar way out of a difficult situation and closed himself, the world was worried. All around began to argue that without working, you will not receive a pension. Psychiatrists seriously say that children should be treated. But hickey (photo above) is not crazy at all. One has only to liberate such a teenager a little, and he suddenly turns out to be a sociable and successful person. Therefore, no need to put pressure on him. Become a true friend to him, invite him to walk, show something interesting, and he will “thaw”.

Hickey around the world

In Western countries, they are sure that such a phenomenon as “hikikomori” could appear only in “strange Japanese”. But this is not true. Already today, the Network is replete with references to hickeys. Teens from all over the world share their experiences on the Internet. One has only to read the notes of Russian Hickey - how much pain these young people throw out on the World Wide Web, because they can not be heard at home. But you just need to understand them, delve into their problems, discuss their complexes, believe in their talents.

In any country in the world there are several dozen teenagers who are happy to drop out of school and close themselves from the whole world. But does in our country even one parent understand such an act? And not every child in Russia has a separate room to take refuge in it. Therefore, for Russians, the word hikikomori remains only a fashionable expression.
