Biographical data

Igor Gennadievich Nikitin was born in the Kazakh city of Ust-Kamensk in March 1973. It was here that he began to play hockey. Extracurricular activities gradually grew into his whole life. In the local “Torpedo” in 1990 he made his debut in the Premier League of the USSR Championship, and two seasons later - in the championship of Kazakhstan.

Sports career

After two years at Torpedo, which has invariably become champions of Kazakhstan, Igor Nikitin went to Togliatti Lada. Here he spent three seasons, during which he became the winner of the MHL (1996), the owner of the European Cup (1997), as well as the finalist of the European Super Cup and Spengler Cup.

After a short stay with Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik, Igor Nikitin moved to Omsk Avangard in 1997. Here, in nine seasons spent, he played in 389 matches, in which he scored 41 (8 + 33) points, and he also remembered a large amount of the penalty time - 399 minutes.

In 2004, Nikitin as part of Neftekhimik became the champion of Russia. He is also the winner of several prestigious international tournaments: European Cup (2005), Volvo Cup (1998) and Engelberg Cup (2006).

Since 2006, Igor Nikitin - hockey player of the Novosibirsk “Siberia”. Here he spent two years, after which he completed his playing career and concentrated on coaching.

Team appearances

As part of the national team of Kazakhstan, Igor Nikitin became the champion of the Winter Asian Games in 1999, and in 2003 - the silver medalist of these competitions. In 1998, he participated in the Nagano Olympic Games.
