The history of the famous automobile brand "Lamborghini" begins in the middle of the XX century. The founder of the company is Ferruccio Lamborghini, which explains the name of the company. In this article you will learn all the details of a motorist’s life, the history of creating a car brand, and much more.

A Brief Biography of Ferruccio Lamborghini

Lamborghini was born in 1916 in an Italian village. He was a calm boy, the son of a farmer. Ferruccio constantly spent time in his father's workshop. My father devoted all his free time to the repair of rural equipment, since farming was the only way to earn money for the whole family. Rumors about Lamborghini's golden hands spread throughout Italy, as a result of which people from all around came to his father with requests for the repair of a particular technique.

Noticing Ferruccio's craving for technology and his desire to understand the structure of cars, his father allocated him a place in his workshop. Over time, Ferruccio Lamborghini surpassed his father, and the eldest turned to his son with requests for the repair of agricultural machinery.

Work in the workshop was not in vain for the young man. Having gained theoretical knowledge, and most importantly practical experience, the Italian enters college, where he continues to study craft. After graduation, Ferruccio goes to service. After the army, a young specialist begins to think about his own business, which will be associated with cars. The young man did not want to just sell or assemble the machines, he wanted to engage in their development and construction.

The 30s of the last century just fell on the golden era for the development of motorsport. Young Lamborghini was in all these events like a fish in water. He knew all the racers, all the sports cars, knew their device and dreamed of his own development. But immediately he did not succeed in turning all his plans into reality.

Circumstances against

All plans collapsed at once due to the outbreak of World War II. In these difficult years for Europe and the whole world, Ferruccio was not at all ready to build cars. After the war ended, Lamborghini was no longer the teenager who dreamed of a large company that produces cool and powerful sports cars.

However, he did not leave the dream of creating his own company. In 1947, Ferruccio opened the company Lamborghini Trattori SPA. The implementation was far from the ideas and dreams of the creator. Instead of sports cars, the company was engaged in the production of tractors. Already an adult Ferruccio understood that in post-war Europe no one needed sports cars. It is necessary to raise agriculture. The release of their own tractors was an ideal option.

Gradually, the company's products became very high quality and the best in their industry. For 10 years of agricultural machinery, the Italian forgot about the dream of creating cars.

Vector change

In the early 60s, Lamborghini Ferruccio began to think again about opening his own car development company. The time span just had to change the profile of his own enterprise. Italy recovered from the consequences of the war and was ready for further development, in which there was a place of luxury. And luxury also includes car racing.

A year later, a car factory was built in Santa Agate. The company's first development was the Lamborghini 350 GT. Despite the investments and efforts, the car did not impress the public, as did the competitor from Ferrari.

First difficulties

The development of the appearance of the supercar was done by the Touring studio. Ferruccio Lamborghini decided to terminate cooperation with this company, accusing them of failing the first Lamborghini model.

Ferruccio began a partnership with Bertone, who created a new design for the supercar from scratch. This studio designed for the company a model called Miura. The car was created from scratch in just 4 months and blew up the entire automotive industry.

Appearance looked rather unusual and fresh, in comparison with all competitors represented by Ferrari. A 370-horsepower unit with a top speed of 274 km / h was installed in Miura. Two years later, the company released version S, which brought Lamborghini closer to the mark of 300 km / h, which at that time was unattainable.

Countach and Diablo

Ferruccio Lamborghini, whose biography is full of ups and downs, began to create a new car in 1971. At the same time, the company celebrated its 10th anniversary. At the Geneva Motor Show, the Countach appeared. This moment can be called a turning point in the entire sphere of supercars of that time. In many ways, this model influenced the current situation on the market of expensive supercars.

In terms of design, the Countach seemed like something completely new and different from all other cars. However, according to the technical characteristics, Ferruccio was never able to surpass the last car. The new sports car has not overcome the mark of 300 km / h. He lacked only 10 km / h to an absolute record.

In serial production, Countach appeared in 1974. On the conveyor, the car lasted until the beginning of the 90s. After that, the model was entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the fastest production car. It would seem that Ferruccio's dream has come true - a large automobile concern that creates the fastest cars in the world and unusual in terms of design, which is several years ahead of time. But the Italian took a lifetime to realize this dream. The model Diablo Ferruccio was already in old age. This particular car was the last one that was released personally by the creator of the company. And it was Diablo who managed to overcome the mark of 300 km / h on the speedometer.

Hidden problems

Despite such a resounding success, the biography of Ferruccio Lamborghini also knew bad times. During the development and launch of Countach, the company experienced financial difficulties. In connection with these, the company was first sold to the American concern Chrysler, after which the Indian company Megatech bought Lamborghini.

Only after the death of the founder did the company gain financial stability and a patron represented by AUDI AG. Thus, the brand returned to its homeland, in the European region.
