Parking barriers are in great demand today. All due to the fact that megacities are constantly growing, prices are also high, and some people do not have the opportunity to purchase a garage in the immediate vicinity of their place of residence. Therefore, the motorist has no choice, and he is forced to park the car right at home, and this is completely not safe - the probability of theft will be extremely high. To provide their car with some kind of protection, use a parking barrier.
What is this device?
To understand the principle of operation of the device, you will need to find out how it looks. The parking barrier is a kind of rack. Often the device is painted in bright color or covered with some kind of paintwork that reflects light in the dark.

The parking barrier allows you to do the following:
- in the raised position, it does not allow the car to pass;
- folding is done exclusively when using the lock to open;
- if there is no lock, the barrier is lowered and the car can easily pass over it.

Where are barriers most commonly used and why?
Usually folding parking barriers are used most actively in sleeping areas. This is due to the fact that few people can afford to maintain a garage, and there is often no place to install it, therefore barriers are needed. What is their main purpose? Everything is simple - protection against theft. In sleeping areas, car theft is a frequent occurrence, and many car owners want to avoid this fate. By the way, it is worth recalling that most often cars are stolen in the early hours - at 4-5 in the morning.
True, for the device to become a real barrier for hijackers, it will need to be installed correctly, otherwise there will be no sense from it.
Start installation
Installation of parking barriers begins with the preparation of certain tools: roulette and punch. The easiest installation method can be done with anchors. To do this, you need to choose tubular anchors, which, after creating holes with a punch in the asphalt, can be easily hammered. To exclude the possibility of dismantling the device by intruders, you will need to carry out the following activities:
- cut the edges on the hat part of the anchors so that it is impossible to dismantle the device with a key;
- cold weld into the joint between the anchor and the tubular region.
Such actions will protect your car, because you can remove the barrier only with the help of a grinder. If attackers want to remove the barrier, then a loud noise will rise, and this will attract unwanted attention for them, and thieves will not go to such impudence.
It is also worth noting immediately that before installing the parking barrier, be aware that the device must be mounted as close to the car as possible. In other words, when a car enters a parking space, there should be no more than five centimeters between the rear bumper and the barrier.
If you do not have a tool, then what to do?
Many stores selling electric tools have their own repair service centers, where they often provide rental tools. Buying them is optional, so you can save a lot and do everything. A perforator rental per day will be approximately 500 rubles, not more, but for the time of use you will have to make a deposit of the cost of the tool itself. This is done for security, because not all customers are honest and decent people, some may steal the tool, and the store protects itself.
What do you need to do first?
First, to install a parking barrier with your own hands, you will need to make markings. Size of a standard parking space: width - 2.4 meters, length - 4 meters. If you park in the courtyard obliquely or with a Christmas tree, then the width of the parking space will be 3 meters or even 3.2 meters. Take all measurements and determine the size of your parking space.
The second stage of installation
After you have determined your parking space, you will need to establish where its middle is: 2.4 meters or 3.2 meters long, cut in half and get 1.2 meters or 1.6 meters. At this point, the central part of the parking space and the barrier will be located. Now you need to determine how deep from the edge of the parking space the parking barrier will be located.
At the same time, do not forget that the barrier will need to be installed so that it folds forward. This will avoid a lot of problems in the future and you will not damage its folding part when hitting. Damage can complicate your life in the future and you will not be able to use the device at all, you will have to replace it, and this is an extra waste.
What is a barrier made of?
The parking barrier is made of two parts: the first is the base of the device, presented in the form of a curved pipe with platforms, thanks to which it is possible to fix the barrier to asphalt, and there is a middle fixed pipe that is welded to the base of this arc with a hole for a padlock; the second part is a steel separate pipe with a platform for attaching to asphalt and a lock hole.
3rd stage - start drilling holes
First you need to install the second part of the barrier - this is a separate pipe, recall, with a hole for the lock. Chalk down two future holes in the middle of the parking space (1.2 meters or 1.6 meters) and the depth that you measured arbitrarily.
Drill holes and install anchors, or you can also use plastic dowels, the size of which is 10 per 100 millimeters, if you wish. On top of the anchors or dowels, install a metal platform and attach it already to the holes drilled in the ground (if you used dowels, tighten everything with metal screws, the size of which is 8 by 100 millimeters).
After the second part of the parking barrier has been attached, it will be necessary to combine it with the arc. Align them so that the holes of the middle pipe of the first part and the second coincide, while the device should be level. Avoid any tilts from side to side, this will only complicate the installation process.
When the parking barrier is installed evenly, the lock holes match, you will also need to mark the holes for the platforms of the first - the main part of the device. Now you also drill, install anchors or dowels and attach the device already to the surface of the asphalt. If you did everything correctly, then you can insert a padlock in the holes of the pipes, whose handle is specially elongated, and then you can use the device for its intended purpose.
