Reign is usually associated with wealth, luxury and a comfortable life. But not for Eric Manu. After becoming king, he works as a gardener in a landscape company outside his country of Ghana and is trying to raise funds to improve the lives of his people.

The hero of this far from typical story has long lived in Canada. One day he met one of the company employees in the church. Having shown himself to be a good person, he interestingly talked about the place where he was born. Assuming that one day he would have to return to his homeland and become the head of the tribe, he thought this would not happen soon.
Earlier, the king was Uncle Eric. After his death, there were long disputes as to which of them would become the next ruler. After some time, Eric was contacted and informed that of all the candidates he was the most worthy. Manu did not dare to refuse the honor he was given and decided to become the ruler of his village with a population of six thousand citizens.

According to the long-established routines of his tribe, the royal title is transferred to the heirs on the maternal side. It turned out that Manu was the senior nephew of the ruling monarch. If Eric suddenly refused the title, it would mean that a man from another tribe would become a ruler and the Manu family would forever lose all privileges. If he did so, it would mean that he neglects his ancestors. Being responsible, Eric Manu was unable to do so and decided to talk with his boss Susan Watson. He also invited her to his coronation.

But the most interesting thing is that after the triumph of the coronation, Eric Manu returned to Canada, to British Columbia, to his former place of work. According to Manu, his subjects are deprived of many opportunities and benefits, and taking care of his people is now his direct duty, even if he works on another continent. It is part of its culture, heritage and traditions. And first of all it concerns the healthcare system.
Eric says that many people have doubts when they find out that he is a king and a gardener at the same time. When visiting the company’s website, people write that they saw it on TV. He must be the boss. Why is he engaged in landscaping? However, Manu insists that he has never been shy about the work that he does, and is still proud of his achievements and the fact that he works for his boss.

In 2016, Manu, along with his boss Susan Watson, sent help, which included medicines, clothes, and laptops, to people in his village to improve their living conditions little by little. And Susan perfectly understands why Manu continues to work as a gardener, despite the fact that he is the king of his village. According to Watson, the villagers are beautiful both inside and out, and they don’t have anything behind their souls. Most of them are deeply unhappy, the whole village is very poor. The clinic has only a midwife and several nurses, there is no doctor at all.
After some time, Manu and Susan organized a charity fund called "To the Moon and Back." This organization collects donations and educates residents of the village of Erica, including the cultivation of food products (which can then also be sold). There are also plans for the future to send specialists to Africa for several months to conduct special trainings.
