The Museum of Local Lore in Kolomna dates back to 1932, when it was founded in the Marinkina Tower of the local Kremlin. New building
From 1969 to 1972, it was possible to carry out a complete reconstruction of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in full accordance with the requirements of the local history museum of Kolomna. A unique exposition was created, covering the 20-century history of the city. Local employees are beginning to work actively with Moscow museums. The funds contain genuine historical objects and documents obtained from the Moscow archives in 1832-1936. A unique treasure of coins, discovered in 1936 on the territory of the Kremlin. In the same period, the collection of the local history museum in Kolomna was replenished with icons and papers from Count Sheremetev’s office, church items and books from Lazhechnikov’s library, as well as from the Assumption Cathedral and local monasteries.
