The fact is that during the escape of Bran and Mira from the cave, Hodor closed the door with his body. And he did this because Bran, being in a vision, moved into Hodor when he was still a boy. Mira, fleeing the cave, screamed a phrase consisting of only two words, namely, "Close the passage." And while Hodor tried to detain the dead, he repeated this phrase until it was reduced to the word "Hodor." At the same time, the boy (Hodor in his childhood) began to huddle, repeating the words behind the adult Hodor. From that moment on, the hero’s mind underwent irreversible changes, and he never became the same.
