Moscow is the ancient capital of Russia and the Russian state. Having lost this status for two centuries to St. Petersburg, it returned it in 1918. And although it is customary to call Petersburg the cultural capital, Moscow is not inferior to it in the richness of cultural life. Residents of the city and tourists are familiar with many cultural objects of the modern capital of the Russian Federation, a huge amount of materials has been published about them. Opening

Library of cinema to them. S. M. Eisenstein in Moscow opened in 2008. The initiative belonged to Mayor Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov. It became the first public library to cover the history and traditions of Russian cinema. The opening was timed immediately to two anniversary dates: the 100th anniversary of the start of national film production in Russia and the 110th anniversary of the birth of the remarkable film director Sergei Eisenstein.

The name of this amazing master was given to the library in the Carriage Series. A great contribution to its foundation was made by the well-known historian and publicist V. Ya. Wulf. He was the first to head the Board of Trustees of the Filmmaking Library named after S. M. Eisenstein.

Developments

In 2008, the Classics electronic cinema hall was opened in the building and the action “Present a book to the city” was held. About 10 thousand Russians took part in the action. In December of that year, a film festival was held here in the library dedicated to the work of Alexei Batalov and dedicated to the anniversary of the actor.

In November 2009, the famous French couturier P. Cardin visited the library and an exhibition was held on the filming of the amazing movie novel War and Peace, staged by director Sergei Bondarchuk based on the novel of the same name by Leo Tolstoy. And a little earlier, in March, in the framework of the festival dedicated to the oldest exhibits of Soviet cinema, an exhibition of sketches and dolls made by artists for films about N.V. Gogol and his works was launched.

In the current 2017, the Borodino Panorama Museum presents films published in 1912 for the anniversary historical event - the 100th anniversary of the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 in the library of cinema.

Funds

The first materials of the funds of the library of cinema to them. The books of cinematographers from the fund of the Library of Cinematographers in Moscow, transferred to her in 2009 as part of the International Film Festival in Moscow, became S. M. Eisenstein's. Now the collection of the cinema library has hundreds of thousands of items of various materials: books, magazines, newspapers, postcards, newspaper clippings, booklets and posters.

Among the main ones are funds of specialized and fiction related to the development of cinema, clippings and assembly sheets, iconography and DVDs. However, the use of journalistic and scientific literature is free only within the walls of the library. To take a book home, you need to make a deposit of an average of 500 rubles per book.
