Many experts argue that the aforementioned human vice differs from compliments in that the flatterer either lies to his interlocutor or tells him the truth, but while pursuing selfish interests. As for the lies, additional comments are not needed here. At the same time, many people like to hear compliments that actually do not correspond to reality. For example, in a situation where young ladies claim that she lost ten kilograms and her figure became ideal, although in reality she, on the contrary, gained weight. And the girl is fully aware that the said compliment is far from the truth. However, often a person hears so little good in his address that he is ready to believe even the most false praises, the main thing is that they are intended for him.

Yes, flattery is vile and insidious, but these categories are often relegated to the background by people. Very often they want to get away from harsh reality and believe in something that really isn’t: they say they are attractive, charming, loved, desired … And the problem of flattery in this case is of paramount importance, since the person from whose lips it sounds may easy to manipulate people. If, for example, one person speaks well of another, looking into his face, and behind him speaks all sorts of nasty things about him, then this is nothing more than flattery.

At the same time, he thinks in advance of the method of suicide. However, there is a category of people who flatter others without any specific reason, including self-serving.

In particular, if a person doubts himself and is convinced that people cannot like him just like that, without any conditions, then he uses the tactics of servility and ingratiation to gain love for himself. He needs affection, attention and care for his person from the side of his entourage, and to get this, he is ready to hypocrite and dissemble. Such sophisticated forms can take flattery.
