The son of the legendary hockey goalkeeper Vladislav Tretyak, Dmitry, was not carried away by hockey, becoming a dentist, but his grandson Maxim Dmitrievich very much even participated with his grandfather.
Maxim began to play hockey at the CSKA school, where he chose for himself, like his grandfather, the fate of the goalkeeper. He took his number (20), to which a peculiar taboo spread at CSKA. None of the army goalkeepers took him on his back in tribute to the goalkeeper legend. But who should break the taboo, if not the grandson of this legend?
Adolescence
This is not to say that nature in the sense of genius on the grandson of the Tretyak completely rested. In children's and youth teams Maxim was a very noticeable value. CSKA-1996 at one age was one of the strongest teams in the country, repeatedly won the championship of Moscow, once won the championship of Russia. Goalkeeper Maxim Tretyak was also involved in the junior team of Russia.
However, the transition to adult hockey revealed serious problems.
"Mr. 0: 3" in the Russian team
In 2013, Maxim signed the first professional contract with his native CSKA. Moreover, the club on the draft newcomers gave their first choice in his favor. However, the main team of the army team was never played. Maxim Tretyak defended the gates of the youth "Red Army" and (on a rental basis) Chekhov's "Star". In Chekhov, there were difficulties: a “habit” to pass the puck in the first minutes of the match. For this, local fans even “awarded” Maxim with the nickname “Mr. 0: 3”.
However, in 2015, apparently, under the patronage of his grandfather, Maxim Tretyak received an invitation to the training camp of the Russian national team before the Czech stage of Euro Hockey Tour. On this, relations with the first national team of the Tretyak Jr. have so far been interrupted.
"Admiral" Tretyak
Eternally playing for the youth “Red Army” Maxim could not, and therefore in 2016 he moved to the Vladivostok “Admiral”. The young KHL club didn’t particularly hide that in this transition, it relies more on PR than on the talents of the young goalkeeper. PR expectations were met: to the “Admiral” and to the Tretiak, attention increased, but on the ice … In the first match in the KHL, Maxim again almost confirmed his still “stellar” nickname: in the first four minutes of the game, two goals conceded.
This start could not affect the entire career in the “Admiral”: for “Anchor” Tretyak spent only 5 matches. In general, there was enough time to get acquainted with Asian hockey during this period. Maxim Tretyak spent four matches for Sakhalin, playing in the Asian Hockey League. Sea Lions from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk alone represent Russia there among the clubs of South Korea, China and Japan.
Return to the started
In 2017, Tretyak Jr. returned to CSKA, but again did not play a single match for him. Everything was limited again to games for Chekhov's “Star”, which is de facto the main team in the career of Maxim Tretyak. The goalkeeper does not seem to agree with this state of affairs: information has appeared that he intends to compete for a contract in Dynamo Riga this offseason.
Grandfather shadow
Vladislav did a lot for his grandson, but it seems that his legendary shadow impenetrable darkness fell on Maxim. Whatever he does, no matter how he plays: everything looks through the prism of the great Tretiak. Once Maxim Tretyak, after regular comparisons and criticisms, even threw up his heart: “Well, now, because of my grandfather, I don’t play hockey at all ?!” Will goalkeeper Maxim Tretiak be able to get out of the shadow time will tell. And it will be very difficult: in Russia, all goalkeepers are measured at least once in the Tretiak, and the grandson - three times.
