Martin Edegor: biography

Born December 17, 1998 in the city of Drammen (Norway). He is a graduate of youth football academies such as Drammen Strong and Stremsgodset. His father, Hans Eric Odegaard, is a former professional footballer (played in Stremsgodset and Sannefjord), is one of the founders of the Drammen Strong club. In the same club for some time he worked as a coach of his son’s team. In 2005, when Martin was only 6 years old, his parents invested 50 thousand crowns in a club to convert the gravel field to an artificial lawn.

In the period from 2009 to 2014, midfielder Martin Edegor played in the youth team of Stremsgodset, among the guys who were 2-3 years older than him. The guy constantly played and trained against physically stronger players, nevertheless he coped. The trainers saw him as unrealistically huge potential, so they put him in the position of the left winger, so that he would play more with the ball and gain experience. In the attack, he was given free will, thanks to which he came up with the most universal and correct solution for successful completion. At the age of twelve, Martin Edegor impressed football manager Lars Tjarnos during a nationwide youth tournament under 16. It was something incredible - Edegor coped with football players who are 3-4 years older than him.

Professional career at Streamsgodset

With the first team, Martin began to train in 2012, when he was 13 years old. Already at that time, the guy was a big hunt from European clubs, such as Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United and others. In January 2014, it was decided that the 15-year-old Edegor would be transferred to the first Stremsgodset team, but no professional contract was signed. The regulations of the Higher Norwegian Football League indicate that players need a professional contract to play. The club management decided to include the player in the B-list for amateur players, which allowed Edegor to take part in three matches for the season. However, the trouble does not come alone, Martin could not train with the main team in the daytime, because he still received secondary education. Thus, the guy trained two nights a week with the Myeundalen semi-professional club (from the first division), in which his father was the head coach.

The debut entry on the field took place on April 13, 2014 against Alesund. Martin became the youngest player to enter the field in the Norwegian League in its entire history.

On May 5, 2014, Edegor nevertheless signed a professional contract with the club and became a full-fledged player. The young midfielder scored his first goal on May 16 in a match against Sarpsborg, thereby recording one more record on his own account - the youngest “goalscorer” in the history of Norwegian football. In total, in the period from 2014 to 2015, Martin Edegor played 23 official matches for the club and scored 5 goals.

Transition to Real Madrid

On January 21, 2015, the Royal Club signed an agreement with the Norwegian for 3.5 million euros (with a possible increase to 9 million). It was reported that the annual salary of Edegor will be 2.3 million euros. At the press conference after the signing of the contract, it was announced that the football player Martin Edegor will train both in the first and in the reserve team (Real Madrid Castilla). As part of the first “creamy” team, he made his debut on May 23, 2015 in the last match of the season against Getafe, when he replaced Cristiano Ronaldo. The match ended with the score 7-3 in favor of the “galacticos”, and Edegor became the youngest player in the championship of Spain (16 years and 156 days).
