Interracial marriages have been around for a long time. As in the past, and now, to marry a foreigner is prestigious. Obviously, the number of such marriages is steadily increasing every year. This may be due to the growth of visitors, and a decrease in criticism of society, etc.

Judging by the statistics, Russian women are much more likely to join ethnic unions than Russian men.

As in any issue, in the issue of mixed marriages there are both opponents and supporters of the idea. So, we will consider the positive and negative sides of such unions and we will understand the indignation of critics and the approval of supporters.

A plus is the development of tolerance in society, the ability to treat such marriages with understanding, the ability to know and understand a foreign culture. Also, such alliances can help improve relations between countries.

Social surveys have shown that a third of respondents consider interracial marriages a waste of time. And also that they are less durable in comparison with mono-ethnic. The fifth part is sure that interethnic marriages are no different from mono-ethnic ones. What is this, so to speak, the usual average union. And the rest believe that mixed marriages are even better than “ordinary” marriages and have a stronger bond.

But many psychologists are sure that it is absolutely unimportant what nationalities the spouses are, the main thing is that calmness, harmony, mutual understanding and love reign in their family. Marriage rests on people's relationships, not on skin color.

Critics find the following shortcomings in interethnic unions.

Firstly, spouses have different cultures. This can greatly interfere with understanding. It can also be difficult to establish a single order in the family. Rituals, rituals, customs, fasts - all this can interfere with the family lifestyle. In addition to the fact that the spouses grew up in different families, they grew up with different customs, which must be taken into account when raising children.

Secondly, interracial marriages often censure others. Often, waiting for the support of loved ones - you can get a conviction.

Thirdly, there are nations (for example, Armenians, Georgians), in whose families from early childhood they instill a sense of pride in the nation, and that a holy union should be exclusively mono-ethnic. This helps to preserve the traditions and traditions of the people, which they greatly value. In this case, either the partner who will have to accept all these principles will suffer, or the “guardian" of the nation, whom his people will condemn.

Fourth, spouses will have a hard time if they had previously lived in different countries. One of them will need to completely “get used to” the new mentality and the life of another country as a whole. For loving hearts, this may seem like trifles, but you need to think about such things beforehand so that you can’t take a stupid step behind the veil of love.

And the last, but very important drawback is the upbringing of children. To make a decision on the birth of a child, you need to be 100% confident in your partner. If such a marriage falls apart, then the spouse who is in a foreign country is more likely to lose custody of the child.

Interracial marriages are often a big risk that not everyone is capable of. But those who decide on such a union consciously will live, as they say, happily ever after.
