For a long time he occupied several cramped rooms in which it was simply impossible to exhibit a large number of expositions. The employees turned out to be real enthusiasts, who stood up for their job, and were mainly engaged in research work. Thus, the UAC “History and Local Lore Museum” in Naberezhnye Chelny received its premises, which now goes to a large number of people. Almost fifty thousand people visit it annually. And this is a huge achievement compared to previous years of the museum. Its history totals almost fifty years.
The museum was founded in 1972. Over the entire period of his existence, he has collected a rich collection of exhibits telling about the nature of the region, its historical development and most importantly - the history of the city itself. Of course, the interest among residents arises, especially since many hear this story from grandparents who witnessed grandiose events and builders of KamAZ, the opening of the dam, as the Museum of the History of the City of Naberezhnye Chelny tells about. Expositions
Currently, the exhibition includes nine sections. They include thirty thousand exhibits. They are on two floors.
The second exposition presents the following topics to visitors:
- The theme of paleontology of the Prikamsky region will acquaint visitors with the beasts that lived in these parts in ancient times and today. Here you can see the remains of animals (skulls, tusks of ancient mammoths, bison). Stuffed animals are represented in these parts. The largest exhibit is a brown bear, but, unfortunately, this large animal, shown to us in the paintings of the great artist I. Shishkin, who lived in these parts, has long disappeared from the forests surrounding the city. To preserve nature, a large forest area next to it has been declared a conservation area, "Lower Kama" is a national park. Another quite large beast presented at the animal exhibition is a wild boar. He makes a huge impression. Knowing the habits of these animals, you can immediately imagine how a flock of such hulks rushes towards people.
- In the section on archeology, visitors will discover the history of the area, from the Paleolithic era to the 11-12th centuries. Weapons of the Bulgarian period, household items. Pottery, jewelry, ceramic production of those times is shown. All exhibits are found in the city and its environs. Some of them were found recently, only in 2009, when they were carrying out perestroika work in the old village of Elevator Mountain, which is already within the city.
- The central place is occupied by the exposition on the ethnography of the region. It shows interesting imitations of peasant housing of different peoples inhabiting the area. Here you can see what a peasant's yard, a forge, a merchant's shop look like. The expositions used genuine household items and imitations. Many of the exhibits presented here are presented to the museum by local residents, fishing them out of the old courtyards and attics of their grandparents.
- “Golden pantry” - this section introduces visitors to jewelry, jewelry of Tatars and Chuvashs. In addition, there is a large collection of coins of imperial times, Soviet money, commemorative and jubilee coins.

The next section describes the beginning of the construction of a modern city. There really is something interesting to tell about this. Guides do this, based on the memories of the old-timers who saw those events. The moment of the flooding of the reservoir and the opening of the dam is remembered by many residents of the city, who at that time gathered to watch this event. Some remember that at the bottom of the reservoir are the remains of a truck that the negligent driver did not manage to remove from the flooding site. They saved the driver all together. Fortunately, nothing happened.
The section on the history of the occurrence of radio business is one of the most interesting. Here is a huge collection of players, receivers and radios that have been assembled for many years by master S. I. Khasanshin. The variety of techniques is amazing. The section on the first builders of the city is probably the most important. It tells about the time that glorified it - the period of construction of KamAZ. Butterfly Show
The Museum of the History of the City of Naberezhnye Chelny, besides displaying exhibits of a historical, paleontological and natural history character, holds many exhibitions of a mobile nature. So, almost every year in the summer, an exhibition of butterflies opens for everyone.
An unusually tender feeling arises in the soul of every visitor when these gentle, beautiful, extraordinary creatures belonging to different species begin to fly around them in the hall. Butterflies even sit on visitors. The only thing you are not allowed to do here is to take pictures with a flash. Since for butterflies it is harmful. It is allowed to take pictures without a flash, but for an additional fee, however, not very large.
Monkey Show
In the spring of 2016, many people liked the brought live exhibition, which was presented by the Museum of the History of Naberezhnye Chelny. The Monkey Show is this event. Children were especially delighted, but adults also enjoyed visiting it.
