In addition, the sculpture is very dynamic. It feels like the horse is a little donkey on its hind legs before jumping. And his rider, raising his hand with a whip, calls for the Bashkir people to follow.

Salavat Yulaev (Ufa, monument)

The famous sculptor Soslanbek Tavasiev worked on the creation of the unique monument. Work on the sculpture took 30 years of his life and glorified him throughout the country. The monument was cast in Leningrad, almost 1.5 months. The sculpture is complex, it has only 3 points of support, and it stands on the most wind-blown place, so it was reinforced with strong steel structures from the inside. The material of the monument itself is cast iron with bronze. Durable pedestal made of reinforced concrete, lined with granite slabs. The monument is fenced with a beautiful metal fence, and the hill under the pedestal in the summer is brightly green with lawn grass. In the dark, the monument is illuminated from below, fountains are also highlighted, and the square itself is illuminated with lanterns. Therefore, even at night, everything here looks very picturesque and is conducive to romantic walks. The view from the cliff to the Belaya River is very beautiful. The contemplation of the panorama of the river, boats running along it, wooded shores and bridges across Belaya fills the soul with pride in the greatness of its country and its unique beauty.

Who is Salavat Yulaev

Salavat Yulaev was born on June 16, 1754, and died on October 8, 1800, belonged to the Tarkhan family. The people revered him as a poet and improviser singer. He composed poems and songs dedicated to his native land, Bashkiria, its beauty and its people. He also praised the valor and courage of his people, called for a struggle for justice.

During the Pugachev uprising, Salavat was sent with his detachment to help the tsarist troops. Their task was to crush the uprising, and Salavat called on his comrades-in-arms to join the Ataman Tsar, Yemelyan Pugachev. The signature of Salavat Yulaev on the Pugachev manifest (in the Bashkir language) has been preserved. Salavat with his army fought on the side of Pugachev to the end. When the uprising was crushed, he suffered all the torments of torture and hard labor (where he ended his earthly journey). Unfortunately, the originals of his songs and poems are lost, but the name of the hero is not forgotten. The Bashkir people are proud of their batyr and he himself laid down many legends about him and his glorious horse. The monument to Soslanbek Tavasiev made the national hero Salavat Yulaev famous far beyond Bashkortostan.
