Space Museum. general description
Who in childhood did not dream of being an astronaut and flying to the stars? The secrets of the Universe have always beckoned with their vastness, and the cosmos was ultimately successfully conquered by humanity. The entire history of this conquest can be seen in a special Cosmonautics Museum, founded in the early 80s of the last century.
The museum is located at the foot of the Conquerors of Space monument near the VDNKh metro station and the All-Russian Exhibition Center. His collections contain archives and personal belongings of the pioneers of the national cosmonautics (Tsiolkovsky, Zander and Korolev) and the first cosmonauts.
Among the exhibits are the first satellite, stuffed squirrels and Strelka, a capsule for dogs of Koziavka and Brave, soil samples from the moon, the descent vehicle of the Vostok spaceship, on which Yuri Gagarin landed, etc. By the way, not everyone knows that the cosmonautics museum at the All-Russian Exhibition Center presents spacecraft that have not returned from space in the form of exact copies.
In addition to museum items is the beautiful design of the halls and the showing of 3D films. In memory of the tour, you can purchase thematic souvenirs: food for astronauts, medals from metal ships, etc.
Schedule and prices
The Cosmonautics Museum at the All-Russian Exhibition Center, whose address is well known, is waiting for its visitors all year round. Its doors are open six days a week, except Monday. Opening hours: from 11.00 to 19.00, on Thursdays until 21.00. You can buy tickets at the ticket office of the museum until 18.00.
The ticket price depends on the excursion program and additional services (200-7500 rubles). On weekends and holidays group tours are conducted (at least 5 people), the price of which is from 150 to 600 rubles.
Entrance to museum visitors is free every third Sunday of the month. For certain categories of the population free access is also provided on ordinary days.

Visiting Rules
Want to visit the Cosmonautics Museum at the All-Russian Exhibition Center? Then you have to adhere to the regulations. The basic rules include:
- Entrance to the museum is possible only by tickets and sightseeing tours, with the exception of privileged categories of citizens. Purchased tickets cannot be exchanged or returned and must be kept until the end of the tour.
- Access to the museum is through a metal detector, and hand luggage is subject to inspection. Outerwear is handed over to the wardrobe, large bags are handed over to the left-luggage office.
- It is forbidden to carry prohibited types of objects (weapons, drugs, alcohol, etc.). It is forbidden to visit the Cosmonautics Museum at the All-Russian Exhibition Center while intoxicated.
- Photo and video shooting is possible only with a special ticket and bracelet.
- It is not allowed to touch the exhibits, tear off the labels, lean against the windows, disrupt order and leave children unattended.
Museum History
In November 1964, a monument to the Conquerors of Space was unveiled in Moscow, during the design of which the premises for a space-themed museum were provided. The idea of creating such an exhibition belonged to the famous designer S.P. Korolev. In September 1967, a corresponding decree of the CPSU Central Committee on the organization of the Cosmonautics Museum in the premises of the monument was issued.
A little later, in front of him created the Alley of Space Heroes. Now this is a favorite vacation spot not only for local residents, but also for many tourists. Children can ride on skates, a scooter or a bicycle here, which they do with enormous pleasure at the first opportunity.
The opening of the museum was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the flight of Yu. Gagarin into space and took place in April 1981. It should be noted that the Cosmonautics Museum in those days occupied an area of 3200 square meters, of which only 800 square meters were used. More than 100 exhibits were exhibited in the halls, including samples of space technology and cosmonaut equipment.
