Geographical position

The city of Neftekamsk is located in the north-west of Bashkortostan, 200 km from the capital of the region - Ufa. It is separated from Moscow by just over 1 thousand km.

The name of the city was given by the nearby Kama River. The area of Neftekamsk is slightly less than 150 square meters. km A small river Maryinka flows through the settlement. The city is located in the northern forest-steppe natural zone, this is due to its climate.

History of the city

The territory that Neftekamsk occupies today began to be populated in the 18th century. Here was the village of Kasevo, another name is Petropavlovka, in which peasants belonging to the royal family lived. Their main occupation was growing bread. During the Pugachev riots, the village was almost completely destroyed, but nevertheless revived, and in the 20th century it became the basis for a new city. The indigenous population of Neftekamsk today is called by the name Kasevo one of the districts of the city.

The appearance of a new city on the map of the USSR was associated with the beginning of the development of oil, found nearby. In 1955, geologists and then builders came here. And in 1959, Kasevo was renamed Neftekamsk. In 1962, he was given the status of a city.

The greatest damage to the air and water of the rivers is caused by the inhabitants themselves, who are increasingly using their own vehicles and littering in natural areas.

Population dynamics

Monitoring the number of city residents begins on the first day of its existence. Prior to this, in 1920, in the village of Kasevo, about 1, 500 residents were recorded. In 1959 Neftekamsk was formed, the population of which then totaled almost 3 thousand people.

City infrastructure

The number of inhabitants of the settlement is not the last effect of the convenience of the city and the comfort of life in it. Neftekamsk is a small city, and public transport is not very well developed in it, several bus companies are involved in transporting residents.

Employment

Initially, Neftekamsk was built as a city for mining workers, but today other enterprises are the main employers. The Neftekamsk Employment Center notes that there are always vacancies at the large NefAZ bus plant, though mostly for men. Local residents also work at the Iskozh large factory, which manufactures fabrics and sew clothes. Here, on the contrary, women are more often required. Therefore, the local population does not have employment problems, although young graduates of high schools can not always find work in their specialty.
