Cape Churkina (Vladivostok) is located on the outskirts of Vladivostok, at the western end of the peninsula, in the Golden Horn Bay, which is located in Peter the Great Bay. The cape separates the Golden Horn Bay and Ulysses Bay. The name comes from the name of Pavel Filippovich Churkin, who was the first to give a description of this bay. In the winter of 1860-61, he was engaged in measuring the depths of the bay, while on the ice.
In addition, Churkin was a participant in the measurements of the depths of the bays of Ulysses, Patroclus, Diomid, and also astronomically drew a map of Vladivostok, which became the first map of this city, and Cape Churkin was among the first to be drawn on this map.
The easternmost city of Russia is a powerful transport corridor connecting our country with the countries of East and South Asia. Vladivostok is famous for the fact that on the outskirts of the city there is a huge sea trade and cargo port. Cape Churkin is a sleeping area of the city, where there are no significant economic objects, but the Vladivostok Sea Fishing Port is nearby.
Railroad station
Cape Churkin is a railway station located within the borders of the city of Vladivostok. Refers to the Vladivostok branch of the Far Eastern Railway. It is the final station and the final point on the branch, coming from Art. "1st River". On the south side of the station is a single platform for boarding passengers.
Geographically, this station is located on Cape Churkina. The larger formation is the Cherkavsky Peninsula, however, city residents call the entire peninsula Churkin, according to the Churkin microdistrict located on it.
How to live on Cape Churkina
Historically, the Churkin district was the place of residence of workers. The construction of a bridge across the Golden Horn has made this area more accessible and prestigious. It also reduced crime rates, which were high in the old days.
Now new residents are actively entering the area. Previously, the situation was completely different. But at the same time, housing prices have become significantly higher. In preparation for the APEC summit, the Cheryomushki shopping center, the Opera and Ballet Theater, and other facilities were built here. Now there are a lot of shops in the area. However, there is a lack of entertainment facilities: bars, cafes, cinemas. Young people complain about the lack of clubs with a large number of shopping centers: you have to go to a disco right in the center of Vladivostok.
Previously, "Churkin" was considered the greenest area of Vladivostok, but now it’s not up to landings: there are cars and parking lots around. But still, there is still a place for greenery. However, residents consider Zmeinka to be a greener area of Vladivostok. There is also a beach, and the air is cleaner.
