At first glance, this seems like a freak of nature, but in reality the superpowers of animals have the most practical application. Why should the primate have such mobility of the cervical spine? Monkey tarsier
An animal with a funny name tarsiers lives in the jungle of Indonesia. In some ways, it looks like a lemur. On the other hand, almost human hands, living mainly on trees and other features are characteristic of monkeys. Therefore, for a long time it was determined either by one or the other. Today, the animal tarsier is finally classified as a primate.
Tarsiers never descend to the earth, spending their whole lives on trees. In the afternoon they sleep, and in the evening they begin to hunt. The diet of the animal is made up of insects, especially likes tarsiers to feast on cricket. Tracking the victim, he motionlessly lies in wait for the moment when it flies closer, and then abruptly jumps. An elongated heel on its hind legs (hence the name of the beast) allows you to push off from the branches and make fairly large jumps. The front paws goosebumps resemble human ones: with five long thin fingers, they help him deftly move through the trees.

It is simply impossible to pass by the image of this baby indifferently. Most individuals are so small that they fit easily in the palm of your hand. The body length of the animal is 10-15 cm, and the tail can be twice as long. An adult animal weighs about 150 g. Tarsiers have a very large brain, which makes the head seem disproportionately huge in relation to the body. But perhaps the most noticeable feature of tarsiers is their eyes. According to zoologists, tarsiers have the largest eyes on the planet. And they are easy to believe! This is where the tale of the flint and the dog with saucer eyes is recalled. When the animal is frightened, they become even larger, and even shine at night, which the locals in turn fear.
But before our eyes, the distinctive features of tarsiers do not end there. This is also the only monkey that turns its head 180 degrees. Since his eyes do not rotate, nature endowed mobility with his head so that he could easily observe the world around him and prevent danger.
