Occurrence

The grand opening of the stadium fell on August 12, 1923, but the question of its construction arose before the outbreak of the First World War. Alekseevsky Park was chosen as the place of construction. The first year the arena was called as “Red Stadium named after L. D. Trotsky ".

Due to the fact that Kiev became the capital of the Ukrainian SSR, the city needed a more spacious stadium. In June 1941, it was planned to open a virtually newly built complex, but because of the Great Patriotic War, the celebration took place a year later. The area of the new arena allowed to accommodate at the same time 50 thousand spectators. On the opening day of the All-Ukrainian Stadium, the Rukh team from Kiev won the match against the German military unit DV.

Description

The creators of the sports complex have successfully combined structural order and diversity in its design, since they had the goal of an aesthetic embodiment of simplicity and functionality in one building. Architects describe this style as “extreme purism, ” which was popular in the last century. The combination of a glass facade and a roof made of heavy-duty material and fiberglass makes the NSC Olimpiysky a beautiful urban construction in Kiev.

Reconstruction work in 2011 was carried out using the Green Stadium technology. Its advantages are the use of materials suitable for recycling, the practice of waste sorting, popular in European countries, and vacuum sewage as a means of saving water. Below is a diagram of the NSC Olimpiysky stadium in Kiev.

The roof of the building is able to withstand temperatures of about 260 ° C and cleaned independently. Transparent domes ("umbrellas") provide lighting of the lawn with sunlight. The cable-stayed roof system weighs about 800 tons. Its lifting was carried out by 160 cranes for ten days.

Eight days it took the workers to lay a natural lawn. 800 rolls of grass cover (one weighing 800 kg) were brought from Slovakia with the help of 10 trucks and refrigerators. Lawn cultivation lasted for two years. The total area of rolls was 8395 m².

The capacity of the NSC Olimpiysky in Kiev is 70, 050 people. For stadium seats, a fireproof, high quality material was used. The same chairs are installed on the London Wembley and Sokker City (Johannesburg). Seats are divided into six types: standard, for visually impaired people with special equipment, people with special needs, players, business sectors and VIPs. The colors of the chairs are blue and yellow.
