For some time now, the small city of Nyagan, located in the Tyumen region, has become the place where the most modern enterprise in the electricity generating industry of Russia, the Nyagan State District Power Station, is being built. Work on its construction is coordinated by Fortum OJSC, whose structure already includes four thermal power plants in the Tyumen region, and five in the Chelyabinsk region.

The Nyaganskaya GRES in its work is focused on operations on a combined cycle cycle, here are class F turbines that operate efficiently and with the least pollution for the environment. The total total capacity of the three blocks under construction exceeds 1.2 thousand megawatts, of which the first block was already put into operation in 2013 (about 421 MW), and the second and third will be launched in 2013-2014.

Nyagan State District Power Plant is considered one of the significant projects of the country and the Urals Federal District. The station is considered important for the energy sector of Ugra, the Polar and Polar Urals, as well as for enterprises such as Rosneft, ITERA, Gazprom, Lukoil, etc. It is estimated that about 3, 000 jobs will be created during the construction and operation of such a large enterprise, and local contractors will be involved. and specialists of relevant qualifications. Such an approach will be very useful for Nyagan, where about 51 thousand inhabitants live.

Currently, the Nyagan State District Power Plant has “given life” to two new power transmission lines in the direction of Ilkovo and to a gas processing plant located in the city. Both of them were created with the participation of JSC FGC UES. A hydroelectric power station of this level is being built in our country for the first time in the last 20 years.

Another generator of electricity - Nizhneturinskaya TPP, has been operating for more than 60 years. Built 40-50 years. 20th century, it today "gives out" about 300 MW, which allows providing more than one city with electricity. It is well-respected by the townspeople and affectionately called "Aurora" for the number and order of pipes. At the beginning of its existence, this enterprise was a training ground for training personnel for the industry, and also became a key link in the unification of the Ural and European energy lines. This power plant owes its birth to the city of Nizhnyaya Tura, which received its urban status in 1949, by transforming it from a workers' village.

Much younger than the Nizhneturinskaya TPP, another example of Soviet-Russian power generation is the Neryungrinskaya TPP. Its construction began in 1980, and three years later the first power unit was launched. The total capacity of the station (3 units) is 570 MW, and it is the only energy generator in Yakutia. The low population density in the region contributes to the fact that the capacity of the enterprise is still enough (by the end of the 10s of the 21st century only about 45% of the station’s resources were involved). Moreover, several years ago, agreements were signed with China, according to which, the state district power station should be included in the system of organizations that provide electricity to the eastern neighbor. At present, the hydroelectric power station is ready for the full loading and sale of surplus energy in the domestic and international markets.

At present, about five hundred power plants of various types (hydroelectric power stations, thermal power plants, nuclear power plants) are operating in Russia, of which 10 are nuclear power plants. Due to the fact that many enterprises were built dozens of years ago, government agencies and businesses are quite acutely concerned about the need to modernize the industry as a necessary condition for the development of industry and maintaining an optimal standard of living.
