Multi-colored squirrels
Hardly anyone had heard of such animals. However, after people saw these squirrels, they actually became obsessed with these beautiful creatures. Kaushik Vijayan visited the Indian forest when he first noticed unusual animals.
Their color was really quite extraordinary. Among other colors, purple, black, brown, red, orange and burgundy were present. The photos posted on Instagram instantly became viral.

Such squirrels made a lasting impression on Kaushik. The length of the animals from head to tail was as much as 36 inches. These were Malabar giant squirrels. The locals called them shekru. Fur of such bright colors is rarely found in some other mammals.

Vijayan said that the sight was a real celebration for his eyes. Kaushik captured photographs in the Patanamthitta area in the southern state of Kerala.
Protein expert John Koprowski commented on the shots. According to him, this color has evolutionary significance. Spotted and dark shades contribute to the fact that these mammals can successfully mask in the shady undergrowth of dense forests.
