Mikhail Krug is a famous author-performer of Russian chanson and one of the most famous natives of Tver among all our contemporaries. This talented musician died tragically in 2002. Despite the all-Russian fame and recognition, Mikhail Vladimirovich Vorobyov (better known under the creative pseudonym Mikhail Krug) was buried in his homeland, in the city of Tver. Most residents of the Tver region are proud of their famous countryman. In the same city a monument to Mikhail Krug was erected.
To a great man - a worthy memory!
Immediately after the death of the king of the Russian chanson, his relatives created a fund to raise funds for the installation of a memorial sculpture. This project was led by the elder sister of Mikhail - Olga Medvedev. In 2003, a place was already chosen in Tver, on which the sculpture should be installed. And on December 19 of that year, they even laid a memorial stone in the foundation of the future statue. But the monument itself to Mikhail Krug appeared much later. It is worth noting that the residents of the city reacted differently to the erection of the sculptural composition. Many representatives of the intelligentsia were against such a monument. Nevertheless, the great musician had more admirers than detractors, and the monument was erected.
Creation and grand opening of the sculpture
A sketch of the future sculptural composition is the creation of the producer of the last album of the Circle, Vadim Tsyganov. The main sculptor of the project is Andrey Smirnov. The monument to Mikhail Krug was inaugurated in 2007, it was installed on the site of the original laying of the memorial stone. Interestingly, near the monument there is no sign or inscription representing the sculpture to the viewer. The thing is that Kruga is already known to everyone, and no one will have questions or doubts as to who this sculpture depicts.

Despite the fact that the monument has not yet celebrated its first ten-year anniversary, it has been attacked several times by vandals. Once the guitar was torn off the sculpture, and another time the whole composition was painted in different colors. After each attempt, the monument was quickly restored, and today residents and visitors can admire it in its original form.
