Monument to Nikulin is installed near the circus building. He came here to work for 50 years: first in the arena, then in the director’s office.
A monument was created on the initiative of the employees of CJSC Yuri Nikulin Circus, funds were collected by the whole team to implement the idea.
Organizational moments
Some time after the death of Yuri Vladimirovich, it became apparent that the circus was orphaned without its director. I wanted both the spectators and colleagues, as before, to be met by the clown Nikulin at the entrance. Actors collected the necessary 350 thousand dollars over two years. To this end, they have opened a subscription to voluntary donations. September 3, 2000 the opening of the monument to Nikulin on Tsvetnoy Boulevard.
According to the author, A. Rukavishnikov, Yuri Vladimirovich should get out of a stopped car. For this, they even allocated a parking space in front of the building where it was planned to establish the composition. But the idea was rejected in the Moscow traffic police, which, seeing a threat to traffic safety from a possible collision of vehicles with the multi-ton construction of the Nikulin monument, imposed its ban. As a result, a parking space was organized on a wide sidewalk. It turned out even better. As subsequent events have shown, both Muscovites and guests of the capital love to be photographed with a great clown. They crowd, line up, but do not interfere with the movement of vehicles along Tsvetnoy Boulevard.
Description of the monument at the circus
The figure of Yuri Vladimirovich is made in full growth. He rests with one foot on the footboard of the car, whose doors are hospitably open. The impression is as if he was inviting someone into the car. And today's visitors to the circus show are happy to accept his call.
The clown Nikulin in a recognizable costume for the performance, wearing a boater hat, as if he had left the building for a moment to the car, and a child's voice called out to him: “May I sit in your car?” “Of course, guys, sit down, only quickly. The show is about to begin. ” The frozen composition of the monument to Yuri Nikulin evokes precisely such associations, because he stands at the passenger seat, the car door is invitingly open here.
And I want to sit at least a minute in such a convertible not only for children. This antique car is, by the way, the property of Yu.V. Nikulina - participated in the filming of "The Caucasian Captive." The author of the monument deliberately reduced its size, while respecting the proportions so that the figure of the clown was the dominant composition.
The sculptor managed to combine Nikulin's professional studies. We see a clown working in a circus, and thanks to a remarkable machine, we recall the roles of Yuri Vladimirovich in the cinema.
Activities of the artist and the clown
Yu. V. Nikulin began his career after the Second World War. Prior to this, he, drafted after military service in the army, went through the battles of the Soviet-Finnish and World War II.
In 1946, a demobilized fighter who did not enter the theater schools of the capital was admitted to the clownery studio at the circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard. Thus was born the great and unforgettable clown. But he still starred in the movie, and more than once. In 1958, he played a small, episodic role in the movie "Girl with a Guitar." This was followed by many comedic and dramatic roles, thanks to which he became known to every resident of the USSR.
