Mass death of animals is a phenomenon that always produces the effect of an exploding bomb on any inhabitant of the planet. Unexplained death of several
tens, or even thousands of representatives of one kind or another is terrifying and often causes panic among the population. Why is the mass death of birds (both domestic and wild)? What is the reason causing dolphin or whale flocks to land? Let's try to find the answers.
In many countries around the world annually reports of such incidents. Perhaps the most common phenomenon has been the mass death of birds. For the first time, the death of a large number of birds was said in 1896. It happened in the US state of Louisiana. In subsequent years, one could observe a rapidly increasing number of such incidents, which were recorded not only in America, but also in the territories of Mexico, Russia, and a number of European countries.
The most famous cases of mass death of birds and animals:
- The death of blackbirds in Louisiana.
- The extinction of colonies of honey bees in the United States (more than a third of the total in 2010).
- Chilean phenomenon: the death of about 2 million individuals of commercial sardines, 60 pelicans, thousands of penguins and pink flamingos.
- The death of black dolphins on the coast of Tasmania: almost 200 individuals were thrown on the coast of the island in one week of December 2008, and the same number in January 2009.
- Inappropriate behavior of pelicans on the US west coast in 2009 led to the death of thousands of birds.
The exact reason for the mass death of birds, ornithologists
can not be called. But there are a number of hypotheses that try to explain the causes of this tragic phenomenon.
Some researchers who point out the facts of animal death in the same places on the planet believe that this is due to the natural release of gases from the earth's crust, which causes a state in birds that resembles drug intoxication, leading to disorientation and unnatural behavior. That is why they crash into flocks of houses, mountains and other obstacles. The release of gases can cause death and the inhabitants of the water depths.
According to another version, the mass death of birds can be caused by the formation of critical cold air fronts that fall from the upper atmosphere. They cause such anomalous phenomena as ice rains, and may very well cause icy feathers to freeze and die. One cannot fail to say that such incidents are often associated with various mystical events, such as, for example, the near end of the world, and the infamous “bird flu” is also blamed.
The only confirmed and obvious reason for the death of animals can be called only oil spills in the oceans. They not only poison water, causing the death of fish and microorganisms, which are the source of its nutrition, but also create a thin film on the surface that covers the wings of birds, depriving them of the ability to fly. This, in turn, leads to starvation of hundreds of individuals.
