Characteristics of a post-industrial society (or information society)

The transition to this stage is characterized by a constant increase in the proportion of the population that is employed in the services, education and science sectors. In parallel, there is a decrease in the number of people employed in material production. This is achieved due to the extremely high development of production forces and technological achievements, which allows a small number of people to provide food and material resources to the vast majority of the population. For example, in many modern advanced countries, the main areas of work are approximately as follows: the service sector often accounts for more than 60% of the working population; only 5% are employed in agriculture; and in industry - less than 35%. Modern post-industrial society manifests itself in different ways in different areas. Let us single out its main manifestations.
