The division of the city into districts is very conditional. The districts of Chelyabinsk are connected by common streets, squares, roads and problems.
Administrative division of Chelyabinsk
The city is divided into 7 districts: Leninsky, Kalininsky, Kurchatovsky, Metallurgical, Traktorozavodsky, Soviet, Central.
The largest in area is the Metallurgical District, it occupies 106 km 2, followed by Sovetsky (78 km 2) and Leninsky (75 km 2), Traktorozavodsky (70 km 2) and Kurchatovsky (60 km 2). The smallest territories belong to Kalininsky (48 km 2) and Central (44 km 2) districts.
The largest in terms of population are Kalininsky district and Kurchatovsky, 224, 390 and 223, 560 people, respectively.
Each district of Chelyabinsk has its own history and destiny. Residents of the districts are trying to preserve the uniqueness of each of them, the color and historical face.
The history of the formation of the regions of Chelyabinsk
Lenin, Soviet and Traktorozavodsky districts are the oldest in the city. They were formed in the mid-30s of the twentieth century: Leninsky - 1935, Soviet and Traktorozavodskaya -1937. The metallurgical industry was founded after the Great Patriotic War, more precisely in 1946, most of its territory consists of military and post-war buildings. Kalininsky and Central districts stood out in the 60-70s, and the youngest district is Kurchatovsky (1985).
Kalininsky district of Chelyabinsk
The main part of the area of the municipality is located in the city center. Kalininsky borders on the Central region. On its territory are located the Ice Palace "Tractor", the city's Central Shopping Center, Puppet Theater, State Circus, Chelyabinsk State University, Thermotechnical Institute, Automobile College, and Pedagogical College.
Main streets: Kirova, Chicherina, Molodogvardeytsev, Kashirin Brothers, Universitetskaya Embankment.
The eastern part of the microdistrict is an industrial zone, the northwestern part is a housing stock and a forest park part with birch groves.
Kurchatovsky
Kurchatov urban area runs from the city center to the north-west and borders with Kalininsky. They are separated by Victory Avenue.
There are entertainment and shopping facilities: “Theorem”, “Focus”, “Fortune”, “Fiesta”, “Victory”, “Entertainment Galaxy”, “Priisk”. The area has a huge number of residential complexes.
Main streets: Molodogvardeytsev, Kuibysheva, Beyvela, Komsomolsky prospect.
This is the most modern, prestigious and expensive district of the city. It is environmentally friendly, since there are no industrial enterprises, but there are many park areas.
Leninsky district
Geographically borders with the Soviet and Traktorozavodsky districts of Chelyabinsk. It is cut off from the Central Meridian Highway and the railway. There is a very ancient Smolino lake with salt water, which was once a medical resort. Now the water is highly desalinated and has lost its healing properties.
Main streets: Dzerzhinsky, Gagarin, Novorossiyskaya, Kopeyskoye Shosse, Meridian Highway.
The area is industrial, 16 factories worked on its territory. Mostly former workers of these factories, their children, grandchildren live. This part of the city is considered the most criminal.
Central
It occupies the western and central parts of the city, it can be safely called the business and cultural heart of Chelyabinsk. This is the most beautiful district, on its territory are located all the main attractions of the city: Gagarin Park - the largest in the city, the Aloe Pole square, beaches on the Shershni lake, pedestrian street - Kirova, Opera and Ballet Theater, Ice Palace, Central Market, Palace of Sports.
Main streets: Kirov, Labor, Engels, Commune, Khudyakov, Lenin Avenue and Sverdlovsky.
The central district is one of the oldest in the city; in its place, the Chelyabinsk fortress was once laid. Here you can stroll along the old street of the city, on which there are buildings that bear historical heritage. This is the business, cultural, administrative and historical center of the city.
Metallurgical
In the north of Chelyabinsk, there is the Metallurgical District, on its territory are the Chelyabinsk Balandino Airport, the North Gate bus station, the Impulse Sports Palace, the Mechel Ice Palace, a leisure park and a large green square.
Main streets: Bogdan Khmelnitsky, Stalevarov, Cherkasskaya, Degtareva, Metallurg Highway.
On the territory of the municipality there are settlements: Pershino, Airport 1 and 2, Kashtak.
The industrial area, large areas of its territory are occupied by factories and enterprises.
It has a well-developed infrastructure, there are hospitals, shopping centers, entertainment and health centers, as well as many leisure parks and squares with birch groves.
Soviet
Most of the area lies in the city center. Here is the Revolution Square, Drama Theater, railway station, Pushkin Park, the entertainment complex "Ural".
Main streets: Blucher, Vorovskogo, Zwilling, Dovatora, Svoboda, Lenin Avenue and Sverdlovskiy.
This is a typical administrative district. Here are the offices of many enterprises and organizations, cultural institutions, higher educational institutions.
