It was there that Samwell Tarley and Lily first met.

The girl who attracts the attention of the brother of the Night Watch is one of Craster's wives. She is pregnant, which makes her turn to Sam for help. Lily wants to escape from her cruel spouse, who can take away her child. Tarli is forced to refuse her help, since there is no place for a woman and a child in the Black Castle.

Samwell Tarley and the girl meet again when the squad returns from the campaign. During a stop in the house of Craster, a riot breaks out, as a result of which not only the owner himself dies, but also the Lord Commander Mormont. Lily and Sam run away from the rebel brothers of the Night Watch. A white walker stands in their way, who is trying to pick up the child. However, Tarley manages to kill him with the help of a fragment of Dragon glass, which he discovered during the campaign. Sam's courage is admired by Lily, the girl falls in love with him.

Departure from the Black Castle

Samwell Tarley leaves the Black Castle, this is prompted by concern for the safety of Lily and the child. He persuades his friend John Snow, who has already managed to take the post of Lord Commander, to allow him to go to Old Town in order to learn to become a master (doctor).
