History of chicago

Although Illinois is a developed state, Chicago has not always been a huge metropolis. Back in the nineteenth century, on the site of the city was a small village, the inhabitants of which were only a few families. The city received the status of a city when a railway was drawn through it.

The name Chicago owes the city a plant. From the wild onions growing in the area, the Indians prepared their traditional dishes. By the way, the tribes of the Indians lived different, the territory was unevenly populated: Sauki, Potavatomi, Miami, Sok-Fox.

Chicago began to accept its current appearance as the largest city in Illinois (this state) after a fire that happened in 1871. The tragedy affected literally a third of the entire population of the city. Local authorities decided to provide housing for the victims as soon as possible.

The building was occupied by a reputable insurance company. Soon, architects decided to supplement the object with several more high-rise buildings.

The city has a large number of different unofficial names. The most famous is the name "City of the Winds." This metropolis nickname is associated with changing weather conditions, in particular strong winds. The air flows here are very strong.
