This weekend at Notre Dame de Paris, the first Mass will be held after the devastating fire that occurred in April. As a result of the fire, some parts of the historical monument were destroyed. The townspeople and guests of Paris hope that the cathedral will be reborn soon and its doors will open to all comers.
Solemn service
Notre Dame Cathedral is preparing for the resumption of worship. The first Mass after the fire will take place on June 16 this year. Despite the chaos and notable destruction caused by the fire, the Mass will be held on the day of the consecration of the altar of the temple. The diocese of the city said that the service will be led by Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit.
For security reasons, a limited number of parishioners will be allowed to worship. About 20 people will be able to attend the Mass, during which they will have to wear helmets.
Recovery work
After a devastating fire that destroyed the roof and spire of the building, the French government pledged to rebuild Notre Dame Cathedral. In particular, President Emmanuel Macron promised that restoration and construction work will be completed in 5 years. Experts said that the announced period is not enough for painstaking work on the building, which celebrated 850 years of its greatness.

Notre Dame was built in the 12th century and is known worldwide for its impressive Gothic architecture and priceless artifacts. Thanks to the professionalism of the firefighters, several religious relics revered throughout the Christian world were saved from destruction, including the crown of thorns; it is believed that he was wearing the head of Jesus Christ at the time of his crucifixion at Calvary. Currently, the diocese is awaiting permission from the city authorities to open a square in front of the cathedral.
