Formation history
In 1934, the 70th Rifle Division was created in Kuibyshev. For two years she was assigned to the Volga Military District (VO). In 1936, in order to strengthen the northwestern borders, the division was redeployed closer to Leningrad. From 1939 to 1940 Soviet soldiers of the 70th division heroically fought for cities in the Gulf of Finland, for which they were awarded the Order of Lenin. In 1941, this military unit was one of the first attacking fascists in the vicinity of Soltsy. For the courage and heroism shown in the battle, the 70th division was soon renamed the 45th Guards Rifle. In 1944, the forces of this army formed the breakthrough of the Leningrad blockade. As a result, the guards motorized infantry division recaptured the village of Krasnoe Selo. Further, in honor of this village, the division began to be called Krasnoselskaya, and the name "Leningradsky" was assigned to its individual regiments. The location of the military unit was the village of Kamenka in the Vyborg district (Leningrad region).
