On the shores of the lake there are many large and small settlements, each of which is remarkable in its own way. One of them, located at the southern tip of Lake Baikal, is the village of Vydrino. Warm lakes are its main attraction. They, like Baikal, have a mysterious, paranormal energy and are just as fabulously beautiful. They also have a pleasant feature - in summer the water in them is warm, like on the Mediterranean Sea! Not surprisingly, these places are extremely popular with all categories of vacationers.
A few words about the lakes. How to get there
The village of Vydrino, whose warm lakes are so famous, is located on the Snezhnaya river. It is 172 km from Irkutsk, 300 km from Ulan-Ude. The closest is Baikalsk, it is only 38 km away. This is important for tourists who are going to relax on the Warm Lakes, as in Baikalsk you can find several good accommodation options. And getting from there to the Warm Lakes is convenient on trains (they go in the morning, afternoon and evening, the journey time is 50 minutes) or by car. Next to Vydrino is the P258 highway connecting Irkutsk and Chita. On it to Baikalsk about 40 minutes drive. On the highway there is a sign "Warm Lake". From the station Vydrino to them - only 7 km. The village can be reached from many cities of Russia, including Moscow and St. Petersburg by trains, following to Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude.
There are only three warm lakes: Emerald, actually Warm and Fairy Tale. They are all very different, have a different composition of water, but all are unique.
Fairy Tale and Warm

In winter, it freezes almost to the bottom, in addition, a radon content is found in the water. The shores of the lake are completely impregnable due to unsteady peatlands. But in beauty, it is not inferior to its two neighbors. Perhaps Dead Lake has a great future in connection with the organization of medical procedures on it. In the meantime, they just admire it.
Emerald
The most inhabited and ennobled (so to speak) is Lake Emerald. Everyone who is going to visit Vydrino, Warm Lakes, can find here signs of civilization in the form of the tourist base of the same name. This lake is the largest of the three. Its depths reach 50 meters.
Many different fish live here - carps, pikes, perches. Water in the summer months reaches a temperature of +28! The swimming season is from late May to early October. And in winter, the Emerald begins the ice fishing season. Emerald Lake, like the other two, is surrounded by a forest with real giant trees. It is impossible to grab their trunks to one person. In addition, there are lots of mushrooms and berries. Nearby is a local celebrity - Mount Monomakh Hat. From its top, such views are breathtaking.
Rest on the Warm Lakes, where to stay
Despite the fact that the Warm Lakes (Vydrino) are very popular, the camp sites are presented in a single copy. This is the recreation center "Warm Lakes on Snezhnaya". Another option for those who come to the Warm Lakes is Vydrino. The houses can be rented where the price will be logically reasonable, with the residents of the village. There are no guest houses here yet. People rent rooms in their apartments, summer houses and the like. While they take three times cheaper than at the base. The advantages of such housing - everything except the lakes, nearby - railway station, shops, pharmacy, cafe, beach and other objects of the village infrastructure. Disadvantages - you will need to get about 7 km to the lakes every day. For those who are by car, this minus is not significant.
Warm Lakes on Snezhnaya
Since at such a popular object as Teplye Lakes (Vydrino), camp sites, unfortunately, are not in stock, we will get acquainted with the monopolist there. So, what is the recreation center “Warm Lakes on Snezhnaya”? This is a rather impressive fenced area of the forest adjacent to the Emerald Lake. There are 3 hotels located on the territory: Monomakh, Vostochnaya and Zapadnaya (two wings of one building), Otrada cottage, several log houses and several summer houses, there is a parking lot and tent sites, a children's and volleyball courts, tables and equipment for table tennis, a bathhouse with a steam room and a pool, a rental point for fishing and sports equipment, catering points. The base works all year. For leisure, vacationers can order some interesting excursions (accompanied by a guide who was the director of a base in Soviet times who knows these places well).

At the only base of the area, you can relax if you can book a good room. This must be done in advance, as there are many who wish, but few offers. The hostel offers:

In the "East" building, the first floor can please only 2 rooms with private facilities. They differ only in size. Prices in them are the same as in "Monomakh."
