Today, the public knows literally everything about family members of any person known in the least. In the Soviet period, and even more so during the reign of Stalin, only a few knew the details of the personal lives of statesmen. She did not advertise, moreover, she was strictly guarded.
In particular, it was not customary to talk about the fate of the children and grandchildren of Stalin after the death of the leader of all peoples, and few know how it developed. Information about his father is extremely scarce. That is why many are surprised to hear, for example, the phrase "Vissarion Dzhugashvili film", thinking that we are talking about the father of Joseph Stalin.

Vissarion Dzhugashvili - the father of Joseph Stalin - was born in the Georgian village of Didi Lilo, which was located on the territory of the Russian Empire, in a family of serfs.
He did not receive any education, but was able to read and write in Georgian, and also spoke Russian, Armenian and Azerbaijani languages.
At a fairly young age, Vissarion Dzhugashvili left his native village and went to Tiflis. There he entered the shoe factory of the Armenian industrialist Adelkhanov and soon became a master. A few years later, Beso Dzhugashvili found out that a new shoe factory was opened in Gori, and the best shoemakers of Georgia were invited there. Without thinking twice, he went there and was hired.
In Gori, Vissarion married Keke Geladze, who bore him three sons. Older boys died early from illness, and of the children in the Dzhugashvili family, only Joseph lived to adulthood.
When the future leader of the peoples was still a very small boy, Vissarion began to drink heavily. The constant scandals and beatings caused his wife to leave him, taking his son. Then Vissarion left for Tiflis alone, but twice tried to take the boy to him. At the same time, he strongly opposed the fact that Joseph received education, trying to make him a shoemaker, which Keke really did not want.
The further biography of Stalin's father is not known for certain.
Vissarion Dzhugashvili died presumably in 1909. In the city of Telavi there is a grave, where, according to some, he is buried.
The famous son practically didn’t tell anyone who Vissarion Dzhugashvili was for him. The commented bibliography of Stalin does not contain a single work of the leader of all peoples, where the father would be mentioned, although it includes a volume with correspondence with his mother and relatives.
Grandchildren
From his only son, Vissarion Ivanovich Dzhugashvili had three native grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The eldest of them - Jacob - was born in 1909. However, his grandfather never saw him, since at that time he had not maintained any relationship with his son for many years, and it is not even known for certain whether he was even alive then.
Of all the children of Joseph Stalin, the name Dzhugashvili was carried only by Jacob. He handed it to his children.
Great-grandchildren on the line of Jacob
According to the memoirs of relatives, Stalin (Dzhugashvili Joseph Vissarionovich) adored his first wife - Ekaterina Svanidze. She died at a young age, giving birth to his only son, Jacob. The boy spent most of his childhood away from his father, but was then transported by him to Moscow.
After a short first marriage, the conclusion of which caused extreme anger of Stalin, Jacob became friends with Olga Golysheva. There is even evidence that the couple was allocated an apartment, but the marriage was upset. The woman left for her native Uryupinsk, gave birth there to a son Eugene and gave him his surname. When the boy was two years old, Jacob appealed to the party bodies with a request to issue Olga a new birth certificate, where his data was indicated in the column "Father".
In addition, the eldest son of Stalin from a marriage with Julia Meltzer had a daughter, Galina. Thus, it was the children of Jacob who began to bear the surname of their great-grandfather Vissarion Dzhugashvili.

Although Galina Dzhugashvili denied that Olga Golysheva’s son had any relation to her father, after the death of Joseph Stalin, he, as the leader’s grandson, was ordered to receive a personal pension by order of the USSR Council of Ministers.
Evgeny Yakovlevich received an excellent military education, defended his thesis and for many years taught at military universities. In 1991, he retired with the rank of colonel and engaged in public activities in Russia and Georgia.
He has two sons, whom he named in honor of his father and great-grandfather, Jacob and Vissarion.
Vissarion Dzhugashvili Jr.
The great-grandson of Stalin Vissarion was born in Tbilisi in 1965. In the early 70s, together with his parents and brother, he moved to Moscow, where he graduated from 23 special schools. Then he entered the Tbilisi Agricultural Institute at the Faculty of Mechanization and Electrification. He served in the SA, where he joined the ranks of the Communist Party. Married. He has two sons, bearing the names of Basil and Joseph.
