Jan Kovarzh is a hockey player at the Metallurg club from Magnitogorsk. He was born in the Czech Republic in 1990. He spent almost his entire career at home. Czech hockey clubs

The striker’s professional career began in 2008. The first club of Jan was the Extra-League team called Lasselsberger, which in 2009 was renamed Pilsen 1929. In the first season, Jan Kovarzh played in 61 matches, in which he was able to earn 16 points on the “goal + pass” system. A year later, Ian became the most productive hockey player among young players. According to the results of the championship, he had 5 goals and 15 assists, earned in 44 matches.

In the 2010/11 season, the striker has improved significantly. Despite the high personal results, the main club failed to win anything. During the season, Jan was sent on loan to Slovan. But on loan, the striker was able to win the First League.

Jan won the first medals in the Czech Championship in the 2011/12 season. “Pilsen” took third place in Extralig, and Kovarz was again one of the most noticeable hockey players on the rink. The striker has 20 goals, 39 assists in 64 matches played. A year later, Jan, together with Pilsen, won gold medals in the Czech championship. In 72 meetings, the forward scored 77 points: 28 goals and 49 assists.

Metallurg Magnitogorsk

Despite a successful performance in the Czech Extra League, Jan Kovář decided not to renew the contract with the club and transferred to Magnitogorsk Metallurg. The contract with the Russian hockey club was designed for three years. Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik also showed an active interest in the attacker, but the Czech chose one of the most titled clubs in Russia.

The first match for the club from Magnitogorsk, Jan held in early September 2013. It was a meeting with Moscow Dynamo. The Czech celebrated his debut with a thrown puck.

At the moment, as part of Metallurg, Kovarzh has spent four full seasons. Each year, the club managed to get into the playoff round following the results of the regular championship in the KHL. On average, the Czech striker in each season was distinguished by 22 goals and 40 assists in the regular season. As for the relegation games, Jan Kovarzh became the author of 28 goals and 55 assists.

In four seasons for Metallurg, Ian played 259 fights, scored 118 goals and made 216 assists, thus gaining 334 points in the goal + pass system.

Career in the Czech team

As part of the Czech junior team, Kovarzh took part in the 2008 World Cup, where his team was able to win. The striker himself played in 5 meetings and scored 8 points (1 goal and 7 assists). For the youth team, Jan spent 6 fights. All of them were played at the 2010 World Youth Championships. The Czechs took 7th place, and Kovarzh scored three goals and three assists.

In 2013, the hockey player made his debut for the Czech national team at the World Cup. In total, as part of the main team, he spent 34 games, threw 4 goals and gave 10 assists. Czechs have never taken prizes. In 2013, the Czech team took 7th place, in 2014 and 2015 - 4th place, in 2016 - 5th place. At the 2017 World Cup, the Czechs lost to the Russians in the 1/8 finals with a score of 3-0.
