Childhood and adolescence

The biography of Sergey Nikolayevich Yastrebov begins on June 30, 1954 - it was on this day that he was born in the city of Shcherbakov, Yaroslavl Region. The boy grew up in a simple working-class family. His father and mother worked at a local engine plant. From a young age, they introduced Sergei to work and sport, the latter subsequently grew into a real passion.

According to Yastrebov himself, in his childhood he adored two things: handball and high jump. In order to achieve success in these disciplines, he enrolled in a local athletics club. Hours of training led to the fact that in school years the boy repeatedly became the champion of the Yaroslavl region.

After leaving school, Sergey Nikolaevich Yastrebov entered the Rybinsk Aviation Technological Institute. Here he studied aircraft engine maintenance and metal processing.

The beginning of adulthood

As for most Soviet youths, the adult life of Sergei Nikolaevich began immediately after being drafted into the army in 1976. It was here that the boys were turned into men, tempering their spirit and body. As for Yastrebov, it was easy for him to serve, since his physical training allowed him to get involved in the harsh routine of army everyday life from the first days.

Sergey Nikolaevich was discharged in 1978. Immediately after that, he went to work at the Rybinsk Production Association of Motor Engineering. Initially, he received the position of designer, but pretty quickly climbed the career ladder.

In 1980, Sergey Nikolayevich Yastrebov was already listed as a Komsomol secretary. This was the beginning of his long journey through communist governing organizations. So, in 1982 he became the first secretary in the Rybinsk city committee of the Komsomol, in 1985 - the second secretary of the Yaroslavl regional committee, and in 1988 - the secretary of the Frunze district committee of the CPSU of Yaroslavl.

New country - new power

The collapse of the Soviet Union led to an active change of power in the field. For Sergei Yastrebov, these changes have benefited. In 1992, he received the position of head of the administration of the Frunze district. And in June 1998, he earned the same position, only in the Kirov region of Yaroslavl, which became good soil for further career growth.

In April 2004, Sergey Nikolayevich Yastrebov transferred to work in the city administration of Yaroslavl. Here he is in the position of deputy mayor: initially he headed the municipal economy, but in 2006 he became responsible for the socio-economic development of the region. Here he worked until 2011.

Political activity

In parliament, Yastrebov Sergei Nikolaevich is a member of United Russia. At the end of 2011, an internal voting took place inside the party, at which it was decided who should represent their interests in the gubernatorial elections in Yaroslavl. According to official figures, Sergey Yastrebov won, but then his candidacy was not approved.

Instead, he was appointed deputy governor in March 2012. At this post, he manifests himself as an experienced leader and politician, which, of course, is beneficial to his reputation. Therefore, it is not surprising that after the departure of Sergey Vakhrukov from the post of governor, he becomes the main contender for his place.

As governor

First, the president appoints Sergey Yastrebov as interim governor. A day later, the decision on his candidacy is passed to parliament, where she is unequivocally approved. Thus, on May 5, 2012 Sergey Nikolaevich became the legal governor of the Yaroslavl region.

Initially, his decisions were to the liking of the townspeople. It was during his reign that the region was able to double its budget. This was due to the fact that Yastrebov actively developed industry and small business. Alas, this trend did not last long - soon Yaroslavl began to notice that their governor was responding to some problems with a delay.

For example, he was well aware that the refinery them. Mendeleev is on the verge of complete collapse. However, instead of taking active steps to save him, he continues to ignore this problem. As a result, the closure of the refinery nearly caused an environmental disaster. And this is just one of the few examples of the governor’s negligent work.
