One of the candidates for a shift in the age line of defense in the Russian national team is Denis Terentyev. Footballer “Rostov”, every year demonstrates an increasingly mature game, and, according to some experts, has already earned the right to call the main team of the national team.
Zenit beginning
Terentyev Denis Sergeevich was born on August 13, 1992 in St. Petersburg. One of the boy’s main hobbies was football, and, when he started school, his parents wrote him in the Smena sports section, which later became known as the Zenith Academy, for which he eventually began his career. Upon joining the champion of Russia, Denis was distinguished by high speed and incredible tenacity when playing on the defensive, thanks to which, in 2010, he was involved in games for the youth composition of the club. Having played for youth for two years, Terentyev liked the basics coach - Luciano Spalletti, who in 2012 attracted the player to participate in the training camp.
At the three preparatory stages, the defender got some playing time, but was considered as one of the reserve players. As a result, in May of that year, Denis Terentyev made his debut in the Premier League - the defender came on as a substitute in the end of the match against Anji, contributing to the victory of the meeting. The entire remainder of the championship Terentyev, although he was involved in training the basics, and was also included in the composition for the match, but on the field he did not get more chances. As a result, the game with the Makhachkala club became the only one for Zenit for the young Russian, both in the season and at the current moment in his career in general.
First rental in Tom
To prevent a talented player from sitting on the bench, the coaching staff decided to rent it out - “Tom” became Denis's new club for the next two years. At that time, the Tomsk club played in the FNL, and the skillful, rapidly progressing defender was just what the team needed. As a result, already in the first half of the season Terentyev became one of the base players, regularly leaving the starting lineup, and at the end of the championship he managed to score with a goal, hitting the goal of the Volgograd “Rotor”. As a result, as part of the “Tommy”, the defender became the silver champion of the FNL, contributing to the exit of the team in the Premier League.
The next season, despite the increase, was not the most successful for both the player and the club - Denis Terentyev was forced to miss the start of the championship because of an injury, and after returning he received only 7 minutes in one of the last matches of the outgoing year. Then, the defender came out for 15 minutes in a butt match against “Ufa”, appearing when “Tom” was losing with a score of 4: 1. After that, he returned to Zenit due to the end of the second lease agreement.
Six months in the “reserve” of “Zenith”
Mentor “Zenith” in a gifted defender did not see the need, despite the presence of problems in the defense, and a player with a Russian passport could be an excellent tool for playing in the championship. As a result, the next six months of the contract with the St. Petersburg club, Denis Terentyev, whose biography already had a significant number of matches in professional football, spent the second part under the leadership of Vladislav Radimov, after which he was again sent on loan to Tomsk.
An attempt to return "Tom" to the elite
As part of the “Tommy” Denis won back his last six months of the contract with “Zenith”, and even then was ready to move to another club upon completion of the agreement. And in order to get into a decent team, the defender needed to prove himself on the FNL field, where the Tomsk citizens again tried to return to the elite of Russian football.
Already familiar to the coaching staff and fans, Terentyev quickly became the basis, and helped “Tom” confidently finish third, recording at his own expense two assists in 9 matches of the FNL. However, in the butt games the Siberian club was not lucky - according to the results of the confrontation with Ural, the team from Yekaterinburg turned out to be stronger. Nevertheless, this game segment Terentyev held successfully, and immediately received a number of offers from RFPL clubs.
Transition to Rostov
Denis choice fell on the “Rostov”. Despite the club’s unsuccessful performance in the previous season, the defender believed in the team’s potential under the leadership of Kurban Berdyev, and, as time has shown, he was right. Terentyev did not get into the main team right away, playing the first season as the main reserve defender. However, the level of play demonstrated by the footballer was quite high, and the very next year, in the rank of silver medalist of the Russian championship, Denis began the season as the main pillar of the defense of the Rostov club.
In 2016, the whole of Europe already learned about who Denis Terentyev was. The biography of the Champions League matches until that moment did not exist, but the player was able to hold the qualifying games with honor, and at the group stage, in a meeting with Ajax, the defender became one of the key players in the team. As a result, “Rostov” was able to take labor third place in the fight against the best teams in Europe. In the Premier League, the football player’s affairs were also successful - only 4 matches did not involve the young player. As a result, over a year and a half in the Rostov club, Denis took part in 36 meetings, and now expects to continue his path of formation in order to grow up to being called up to the Russian national team. In the meantime, in the immediate plans of the player - a successful performance in the Europa League and the Russian Championship, where “Rostov” has good chances to fight for prizes.
