The biography of Leonid Golovanov is closely related to his current profession as an automobile journalist. His path to journalism was not quite ordinary. But, as they say, we all come from childhood. In his infrequent interviews, he says that in his childhood he loved to read, especially science fiction. Like him and cars. These childhood preferences began to appear much later, after the end of MIREA.
It was a time of perestroika, and survival at that time depended largely on the ability to sell. However, such a prospect did not fit Leonid in any way, which seriously overshadowed his thoughts about his future. Then, on the advice of friends, Leonid Golovanov turned to the editorial office of "Autoreview" with a proposal "hands and hearts."
Mikhail Podorozhansky, the editor-in-chief of the magazine since its founding, accepted it after a short test task. And since 1995, they have been together, as they say, "both in grief and in joy."
Leonid Golovanov - journalist
As a journalist, Leonid Golovanov was able to fully express himself in his favorite automotive topics. There was a case when the author inadvertently spoke out about Napoleon’s plans during the war of 1812, which could, if he won, accelerate the abolition of serfdom in Russia (“AR” No. 3, 2011). What the vigilant reader immediately reacted to, recalling the similar reasoning of Smerdyakov from the famous novel by Dostoevsky.
Oh, this "Oka"
For the Russian auto industry, the Auto Review team was always upset: this topic is sore, and prevention can no longer be dispensed with. But the patient is occasionally released for a walk to observe his attempts to adapt to the swiftness of life. Golovanov manages to make an exciting thriller out of such a walk.
For example, in 2003 he got behind the wheel of the Oka in order to experience the features of its operation through his own experience and try to find advantages in this economical model, which he immediately dubbed the “tin”, inside of which you feel like a canned sprat.
However, having set himself the task of revealing the advantages of a miniature car, Leonid fulfilled it one hundred percent, overtaking heavier specimens at bends and seeping between them at traffic lights.

Crash test
A meeting of two people, involving a long family life, is, in a certain sense, a real crash test, albeit a long one.

Leonid Golovanov and Irina Bogushevskaya inexorably brought fate to the meeting point, where she prepared them a springboard for trials.
And yet it did not work out
According to media sources, at the age of 27, Irina was having a hard time parting with her first husband, Alexei Kortnev. She even got into a car accident, having received a serious fracture of her right hand. At this time, her career as a singer was just beginning, and in connection with the accident she almost ended.
At 27, Leonid Golovanov was also busy defining his life path, concentrating all his attention on journalism. It was a serious choice that changed his whole subsequent life. In addition, he, like Irina, was not happy in his first marriage.
And in 1999, the lines of their life crossed to determine their joint existence for the whole 12 years. Irina repeatedly said, talking about the personal, that from the very beginning they felt mutual sympathy, which they continued to feel throughout their life together. In addition, both he and she were successful in their profession. In many ways, their potential was the same.
But still they had to leave. According to Irina, precisely because of their equal rights in creativity: everyone in the first place still had an affair, and only then - a family.
