Childhood and youth
The Uzbek SSR became the birthplace of Oleg Vavilov, where on January 8, 1950 he was born. The son of a serviceman had a “nomadic” childhood; he did not even remember the numbers of the schools in which he studied. There were a lot of them, as well as cities in which the family of a career officer had to live. After the military service of his father ended, the family settled in Dushanbe. It was there that Oleg once and for all fell in love with the theater, and not as a spectator, but as an actor. When a person really wants something, fate can give him a present.
Oleg met a wonderful family theater couple from Leningrad, which helped him a lot in mastering the basics of the profession of an actor. Thanks to such training, Oleg Vavilov easily passed the entrance exams to the famous GITIS. So a boy from the sunny, but far from the capitals of Tajikistan, became a student of the capital's theater university, who successfully graduated in a few years.
Start in the acting profession
After graduating from GITIS, the young man left for Kazan, where in 1971 he joined the Bolshoi Drama Theater. Kachalova. In the two years that Oleg spent in this temple of art, he was fortunate enough to play very prominent roles, for example, the main character in the Roschinsky play “Valentine and Valentine”. For a novice actor, a career was developing quite successfully. Vavilov is still warmly remembered in Kazan BDT. But the young actor dreamed of conquering the capital. He left for Moscow, where he began to play in the famous capital's Theater of Young Spectators. One of his memorable roles in this theater is the role of D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers. Maybe because this role allowed an intelligent, shy, gentle young man to show the passion and charisma of nature hidden for the time being.
Theater that became home for 25 years
Of course, the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya is a whole era in the life of Vavilov. He joined the theater troupe in 1978 and served on the stage of this theater for a quarter of a century. The premiere in Radzinsky’s play “Lunin, or the Death of Jacques” immediately brought fame to Oleg Vavilov. Critics and the public spoke about him, began to write newspapers and magazines.
But his favorite work at the beginning of his career at the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, the actor calls the play based on the play by V. Kondratyev "Vacation by wound." Military topics have always been close to Vavilov, since the war directly affected his family. Both performances were staged by director Alexander Dunaev. Oleg Mikhailovich considers the time spent at the Malaya Bronnaya Theater to be very happy. Especially the years of joint work with Anatoly Efros, and then with Andrei Zhitinkin.
With the latter, Vavilova is still connected by friendship and creative projects. The acting fate of Vavilov in the theater was successful. Satire Theater
It so happened that Oleg Vavilov had to leave the walls of his native Theater on Malaya Bronnaya. In 2004, he became a full-time actor in the legendary Satire Theater. Initially, Vavilov had to spend time waiting for roles. It was not easy for the always sought after actor, accustomed to work without stopping. Artistic director of the theater Alexander Shirvind helped Oleg not lose heart.
Over time, roles appeared, warm relations were established with fellow actors, everything returned to normal. With special warmth, the actor recalls working together with Vera Vasileva, Alena Yakovleva, Yuri Vasilyev. The actor considers the name of his first performance at the Satire Theater symbolic. It was a production of Yuri Vasiliev “Wait!”. Along with his work at the Satire Theater, Vavilov collaborates with the Nikitsky Gate Theater, the Modern Theater, and performs in entreprises.

Unlike theatrical, Vavilov does not consider his career in cinema to be successful. Nevertheless, he starred in 15 films, on his account very popular films. Oleg Vavilov played one of his most memorable roles in the film "The Strange Woman" directed by Rayzman. He himself always highlights this extraordinary role.
Most of all, Vavilov appreciates the fact that he was lucky to work on the set with great partners: Natalya Gundareva, Leah Akhedzhakova, Vasily Lanov and Irina Kupchenko. Vavilov likes to act in films, but he is responsible for choosing a script. Believes that the actor should respect himself. Oleg Mikhailovich hopes that he will still have bright roles ahead.

The wife of Oleg Vavilov, Natalia Veniaminovna Bataen, is the director of the Nemirovich-Danchenko Museum-Apartment. They met as very young people. Legend has it that the young journalist Natasha Bataen saw Oleg Vavilov in the film "The Strange Woman" and fell in love at first sight. Beautiful love broke out, the young people got married. In 1981, the son of George was born, who followed in his father's footsteps and became an actor. In 2016, a tragedy occurred in the family.
