Movie debut

When did an actor with an unusual, memorable surname Pankratov-Cherny become known to the Soviet audience? The filmography of the actor begins with work in the picture of Konchalovsky "Sibiriada". It was after the release of this film that the young actor began to be recognized on the street. The premiere of the Konchalovsky film took place in 1978. The creative path of the graduate of the Gorky Theater School was by no means thorny. Indeed, many, even extremely gifted, actors have for years to achieve at least an insignificant role in the film of a famous director.

Pankratov-Cherny was born in 1949. He worked for several years at the Penza Drama Theater. The fame came to the artist in the early eighties. “We are from jazz”

In the lyrical comedy of Karen Shakhnazarov, Pankratov-Cherny played not the main role, but perhaps the most interesting. The film tells about the fate of novice jazzmen. Events take place in the twenties, when jazz was not yet perceived as a typical bourgeois trend in music. Rather, works in this style were the anthem of the proletarians. After all, jazz was created by black slaves. A simple, not particularly educated and far from sophisticated music connoisseur was played by the actor Pankratov-Cherny. His filmography replenished with work in a picture that can safely be called a classic of Russian cinema.

"Cruel romance"

In the film, based on the play of Ostrovsky, the actor played a minor episodic role. But each viewer who at least once saw Ryazanov’s film remembered a talkative, cheerful officer who dared to compete with the hero of Mikhalkov in accuracy.

"Winter evening in Gagra"

The premiere of this film took place in 1985. Pankratov-Cherny played in this film a strange young man working as a laborer in a circus and dreaming of learning to strike tap dance. He did not succeed. Arkady Grachev - the hero of Pankratov-Cherny - had neither a hearing, nor a sense of rhythm. But he managed something else: to support a man who was once a famous tapman, but in old age he was completely lonely.
