The future television journalist was born in Lithuania on November 25, 1968. His father is the famous director and founder of the Plastic Drama Theater Giedrius Matskevičius. Ernest studied at a school in Vilnius, from childhood he wrote poems, short stories and scripts for a puppet theater.

Since 2003, Ernest Matskevičius has been married. With a potential wife, they tested their feelings for five years, and he made the decision to marry on his 34th birthday. At thirty-five, the presenter became a father. Alina's wife gave him a daughter, Dahlia.
In his spare time, which he does not have much, Ernest Matskevičius practices karate, which has a green belt, plays the guitar and reads.
