History

In 1781, the settlement became the center of a rather large county and received the status of a city that was part of the Ufa governorate. In the winter of 1796, the urban-type settlement Buguruslan was included in the Orenburg province, and it was assigned to the Samara province in 1850.

The population at that time was mainly engaged in trade, cattle breeding and tillage. The area was famous for its rich spring and autumn fairs. Peasants brought from nearby villages to the fairground to sell their products.
