A brief excursion into history
Initially, the arboretum (Krasnodar) was nothing more than forestry at the city Agrarian University. In 1959, the famous public figure and professor Ivan Sergeyevich Kosenko came up with the idea of transforming this place into a natural park. After some time, they decided to “give the whole people” to the entire area. Unattractive concrete fences were torn down and replaced by wrought iron fences. Tiled paths were laid everywhere. Only green spaces remained unchanged, which at one time were brought here from all regions of the planet.
Today, the arboretum (Krasnodar) covers an area of about 46 hectares. Over 1200 plant species are represented here, many of which are exotic and fairly rare. About 80 plant species that are located in the park are protected by the Red Book. There are also flower greenhouses where you can see about 300 varieties of subtropical and tropical crops.

Most of them are tame and absolutely not afraid of people. You can also see here a whole mass of individual species of forest and migratory birds.
Scientific and educational projects
Arboretum (Krasnodar) is not only numerous plants, representatives of fauna and picturesque views. The park also serves as a platform for the development of scientific and educational projects. There is an agrochemical laboratory, there are manufacturing sectors. The main focus of the work of local scientists is the study of the acclimatization of individual representatives of the flora in the current environment. Park workers are also working on the development of projects for landscaping the city, the introduction of woody plants in the arrangement of adjoining territories.
The arboretum staff organizes exciting excursions for numerous visitors to the park. At such events, city guests, schoolchildren and students are happy to come. Exhibitions and seminars are organized on the territory of the park, during which experts conduct consultations on issues related to the cultivation of plants. Among other things, this place serves as a production and scientific base for staff and students of the Kuban State Agrarian University.
