For modern man, outer space has become much more understandable than it was at least a century ago. But the universe continues to conceal an unimaginable amount of mysteries and secrets. Thanks to the rapid and rapid technological progress, we have already managed to find answers to many questions that have excited people's minds for centuries and millennia.

But, despite this, space is still mysterious and unknown. The deeper a person penetrates the secrets of the universe, the more cosmic depths throw up puzzles and raise questions. For example, what is the temperature in space, and what are the physical conditions outside our planet? The answers to these seemingly simple questions are actually not so straightforward.

Many science fiction novels describe in detail and rather colorfully what temperature is in space. As a rule, this physical quantity seems to be a terrible unimaginable cold. But is it really so? For the vast expanses of deep space, the very concept of temperature is not applicable, since in the usual earthly understanding it is simply absent there.

Therefore, in the traditional sense, the question of what temperature in space is inappropriate. In a vacuum environment there is no temperature. This physical quantity, which determines all life on the surface of our blue sphere, wrapped in a protective atmospheric cocoon, is determined by the speed of movement of molecules that are absent in open space. In any case, in the amount necessary for the formation of any temperature regime.

When wondering what the temperature is in outer space, one should keep in mind only the thermodynamic characteristic of the temperature, in accordance with which this physical quantity denotes a certain state of matter. Although there is no matter in outer space, it is thoroughly penetrated by various types of radiation of the most varied frequency, speed and intensity.

And the concept of temperature in this aspect takes on a somewhat peculiar meaning. In space, it represents the total energy of all types of radiation at a certain point in space. In other words, the temperature in space depends on the individual conditions of a particular section of the universe. Naturally, the closer to the radiation source, which is usually stars, the higher the intensity and speed of particles. Consequently, the thermodynamic indicator of temperature is higher.

It is generally accepted that at a considerable distance from the celestial bodies, the temperature of outer space is absolute zero (-273.15 degrees Kelvin scale). But in the physical sense, the situation is somewhat different. If a thermometer is placed in the intergalactic space, it will first demonstrate the temperature inherent in the medium from which it was extracted. And only after a while the thermometer will start to heat up.

Indeed, according to the theory of convective heat transfer, an object under the influence of direct sunlight, quickly and very much heats up. And in interplanetary space, heating will occur much stronger and more intense. Because space vacuum is an almost perfect heat insulator.

The thermodynamic indicator of temperature is an integral part of such an unusual, but really existing concept, like weather in space, which also originates inside the celestial bodies. Geomagnetic storms, radiation storms, solar wind - these are the most common and well-known manifestations of the violent disposition of stars. They, along with a host of other deadly phenomena, form space weather.
