1. Leaves of trees turned face down
This sign has actually existed for a long time. Before a thunderstorm, air humidity rises. This leads to the fact that the leaves on the trees, becoming elastic, as if falling down. This phenomenon often becomes noticeable during the autumn rains.
2. Insect movements become slow
According to a barometric study conducted by Plos One scientists, insects do not mate before rain. Scientists conducted tests on cucurbit beetles, potato aphids and moths. And all three species of insects had similar reactions to the approaching rain. When it rains, females practically do not emit signals for mating, and males, respectively, do not respond to pheromones. If necessary, insects mate in bad weather, but natural "rituals" will be absent.

3. Birds foresee a thunderstorm
In 2013, scientists monitoring the migration of migratory birds were confused by the fact that the winged ones suddenly left Mount Tennessee. They seemed to lose course, moved separately, and not in a pack. Fifty miles from the mountain, a thunderstorm occurred. However, there was no rainfall in Tennessee, atmospheric pressure was normal and wind speed did not change. As soon as the thunderstorm ended, the birds immediately returned. Experts suggest that birds can sense distant peals of thunder that are too low for humans.
4. Change in air odor
This smell of freshness, noticeable immediately after rain, is caused by ozone. As a thunderstorm approaches, a downward flow of air pushes ozone molecules closer to the ground. So we catch the scent of rain.
5. Bees do not work in the rain
Studies by scientists from Jiangxi Agricultural University show that bees foresee the approaching rain and stock up on food. For a month, scientists tracked about 300 honey bees and found out an interesting thing: the day before the rain began, the bees "worked" longer than usual, probably to stock up on food. It turns out that during bad weather the bees do not work.
