The species of ticks that exist in nature are numerous. Scientists count them more than 20 thousand. And only a small part can be attributed to potentially life-threatening humans and animals. About a quarter of them are carriers of diseases.

Ticks are found everywhere: in the fields, forests, in the seas, oceans and swamps. Even wet linens and carpet in the house can be a hotbed of these insects.

A reasonable question arises: "What are ticks, and what are they dangerous?" Ixodid ticks are the most unpleasant representatives of this class. Encountering this species is quite dangerous for humans and animals. Their bite can be accompanied by diseases such as inflammation of the brain, fever, typhoid. Ixodid ticks are found in the forests of Siberia and Europe. Some species settle in Crimea, Turkey. Field varieties of ixodid ticks lie in wait in the meadows and other places covered with grass. For pets, a brown dog tick is most dangerous. It is found in moist coastal stripes. This parasite bites into the skin of the dog and is the causative agent of babesiosis. In rare cases, a brown tick attack on humans has been observed.

Shell mites are inhabitants of forest litter and moist soil. The most common type. They affect the digestive system of animals that eat larvae and grass infected with ticks.

Another "unpleasant neighbors" are barn ticks. These small arthropods settle in cereals, flour, plant bulbs and tree bark. If a tick enters the body, then you can get poisoning of the digestive system, accompanied by redness of the eyes, allergies and even an attack of asthma.

Scabies mite is the causative agent of scabies. Representatives of this species gnaw quite long passages on the skin and lay eggs there, which causes severe itching and inflammation.

Diverse species of ticks are found throughout the whole life path of a person. In ponds, water mites lie in wait, meeting with which is very unpleasant, and gamaz ticks destroy any poultry. Red-mite ticks are quite small in size, and therefore practically invisible, only larvae of these representatives attack people, being carriers of fever.

In order not to get sick after a walk in the forest or a trip to the river, you need to follow some precautions and be careful. When going in nature, dress so that the body is as closed as possible. Do not allow ticks to penetrate hair on the head or climb into shoes. Be sure to inspect each other after a walk. To be fully armed, you need to know the "enemy" in person, so be sure to look in special books for photos of ticks that can be dangerous. If you suspect an insect bite, immediately go to the doctor. You should not try to remove the tick yourself if it has already stuck into the skin, so you will tear off its abdomen, and the poisonous head will remain. A couple drops of castor oil will help remove the entire insect without leaving parts in your body.

Inspect not only yourself, but also your pet, its ears and nose. Many species of ticks are carried by dogs, cats and other domestic animals.

Subject to simple rules, your vacation will be pleasant and not overshadowed by painful consequences.
