Biography

Milana Kashtanova was born in 1982 in Estonia, in the city of Tallinn, where she grew up. There were many plans and aspirations, and in order to realize them, the girl went to St. Petersburg, where she successfully entered the East European Institute of Psychoanalysis, choosing a psychologist's profession. Here, on the street where the girl lived, and this tragedy occurred.

Accident

The fault was the negligence of the workers of the FSW. They cleared snow on the roof of the Red Cadet, and they simply forgot to put up a fence warning people about the danger. A huge block of frozen snow flew off the roof with terrible speed, anyone could suffer, but at that moment it was a young girl of 28 years old Milan Kashtanova who was at the scene of the tragedy. The biography of a promising student from this moment changes dramatically. The skull was crushed, and icy sharp fragments penetrated the brain, an ambulance takes the girl in critical condition. The nature of her injuries was so serious that doctors could only shrug. No one could judge whether Milan would survive until morning or not.

What love can do

But morning came, and the girl's condition remained steadily grave. This inspired hope in the hearts of relatives, despite the fact that the doctors still did not talk about positive developments and predicted that Milan would have a future riveted on the artificial life apparatus. It was necessary to fight, in spite of everything, and the common assistant of the girl in this matter was her common-law husband and peer Irina Kalachev. He launched a campaign against the FSW, disseminated information on the Internet and the media, a large sum of money was needed to rehabilitate his girlfriend in a German clinic. Eight months later, thanks to the efforts of relatives and friends, Milan Kashtanova came out of a severe coma.

Facts from life

The first girl she saw next to her after such a terrible shock was her beloved and devoted husband, Irenaeus. The struggle for life lasted six years, in a German clinic the girl for many months learned to move and talk again. The lawsuit with the FSW was excruciating, but Milan’s husband defeated her too. Compensation amounted to about ten million rubles, this has not happened in Russian history before. Now Milana Kashtanova (photo with parents), lives in Tallinn again in her family.

And every day a fight

The girl already learned to speak well, but due to spasticity of the muscles, one arm still remained motionless, it is difficult for her to move in a wheelchair and perform daily exercises. But Milana Kashtanova achieves small victories every day, practices with a physiotherapist and speech therapist, tries to stand on her feet. The monetary compensation won in the court went to a German clinic, now friends who have found and paid for an experienced physiotherapist and dad, who works at night in a taxi, are helping to solve the financial problem. The biggest problem for Milan today is the terrible headaches that she has with vertical movements. Only strong drugs based on caffeine save, doctors have no other options for getting rid of this. The hope remains that after some time it can go by itself.

Cancer, coma again

It would seem that Milana Kashtanova survived so much that she’ll have enough for her whole life, but recently, doctors noted that she had a malignant tumor (thymus cancer). They had already planned an operation, but changed their mind at the last moment. The examination showed that over the past three years the size of the neoplasm has not changed, so it was decided to observe it and undergo computed tomography every six months. Later, another incident happened. Passing a planned rehabilitation course in the clinic, the girl suddenly fell into a coma again. They immediately hooked up the best doctors, conducted a series of examinations, and revealed the cause, which turned out to be a sharp dose reduction of one of the drugs. I had to go the already beaten path anew, learn to speak and move. But this emergency allowed us to move for the better - memory returned to Milan, she began to feel the taste of food and express her emotions brighter.

The girl is full of positive

“Now I can call my condition average, there is still a lot of work to do, ” Milan Kashtanova herself tells reporters by telephone. Her personal life is now different. Irenaeus remained to live and work in St. Petersburg, and only occasionally visits the girl upon arrival. Now they are just good friends, he did a lot for Milan, and she is very grateful to him for that. Severe headaches are often disturbing and it is very difficult to move, but the girlfriend, who is the only one who did not abandon her during this difficult period, supports her well. Together with her they go for walks, were at a concert of Garik Sukachev, and now they plan to attend a performance of the Comedy Club. Short-term memory also fails, and difficulties arise with concentration, which prevents Milan from reading books, but she likes to watch TV and spends a lot of time communicating on the network.

For Kostya, 2010 was also fatal.

Everyone who remembered this tragedy will probably remember Konstantin Zhivetiev, who was seriously injured that same year. This happened during a kayaking training. One of the boats rolled over, and the guy immediately rushed to the rescue. He saved the drowning man, but he could not get ashore. The result is serious brain damage, a long struggle for life, every six months rehabilitation courses and daily work on oneself. And if the doctors in Estonia didn’t leave the guy a chance, and his parents were only advised to look after him, the specialists in Germany were more positive, choosing a different, more comprehensive approach to the treatment of Bones. A massage therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist and physiotherapist were immediately attached to him.

Now Kostya is already trying to walk, however, while relying on simulators. And recently, he underwent a brain study, and revealed its positive dynamics. In St. Petersburg, he underwent treatment with donor stem cells, more than 200 million of them were introduced to him. About four and a half thousand euros were spent on all procedures, and this is only the first step to recovery. Now the guy’s parents have only one plan - to continue treatment with stem cells, since the positive dynamics after their introduction is visible to both them and the clinic’s doctors.
