Pavilion No. 57 of VDNH

This construction takes its beginnings in 1967, when architects V. Dokotorovich, V. Zaltsman, I. Vinogradsky designed the building to house the exhibition of VDNH "Consumer Goods of the USSR".

It was at that time a grandiose building, completely glazed. It has become the largest exhibition pavilion on the territory of the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy.

In the future, various exhibitions were placed here, reviews of the branches of the national economy of the Soviet Union, and intersectoral thematic events were held.

The pavilion received its second life after the collapse of the USSR in the 2000s, when a permanent agricultural exhibition entitled Golden Autumn was organized in it.

The pavilion, the future museum of the history of Russia at VDNH, was subjected to major reconstruction from spring to the end of 2015. It allowed to turn the building into a unique exhibition site, which met the highest world museum and exhibition requirements. Builders and architects managed to preserve the historical appearance of the pavilion, popularly referred to as "glass". But at the same time, it turned out to increase the area of premises inside the building to almost 28, 000 square meters. During the restoration of the pavilion, the roof of the structure was completely replaced. As well as ceilings and glazing.

By making changes to the building structure in the form of a mezzanine add-on, it was possible to create a second floor. This led to an increase in the total area of the structure.

In December 2015, the permanent historical exhibition "Russia - My History" was opened in the pavilion. Its operator is the Russian Foundation for Humanitarian Projects.
