In many films and TV shows, characters like Rambo do not seem to feel pain at all: they receive all kinds of blows and wounds without a single complaint, while still continuing to run and fight with enemies. But in real life, “real” men are quite far from heroic stereotypes. And this is not only the opinion of women, this statement confirms the latest study conducted by two Canadian universities.

More recently, the results of this study have become available, and they completely refute the position of those people who still believe that "men do not cry."

Stereotype of masculinity

Our grandfathers and fathers grew up with a clear rule in their heads: men don’t cry, they don’t feel fear and pain. They must always be strong in order to protect weak women and children. Being embarrassed was a shame for a man, so they had to hide their true feelings, deny the manifestation of fear and pain. In fact, it was only a staging, they behaved as society demanded of them. In fact, they also cried, also felt fear and pain.

Fortunately, new generations are fundamentally changing the situation. Today, the stronger sex can behave more sincerely, may not hide its feelings, and society will not blame him for this.

Of course, these changes affect both relationships with women and the place that men occupy in relationships. At the same time, perhaps such changes are not at all for the best, because in relations men “lose weight”, lose their dominant, leadership position.

Study

The study itself was conducted at the Canadian universities of McGill and Toronto. The purpose of this study was to analyze how people feel pain. For this, a group of men and women was selected. They were subjected to painful tests on the skin - they put a tight bracelet on their hand. The next day, skin sensitivity was measured in the place where the bracelet was on the eve.

The results obtained with this simple test allowed scientists to draw some interesting and unexpected conclusions.

Research results

The results confirmed that men and women relate to pain completely differently. According to the reaction, it was evident that men were more painful in the test: their sensitivity in the bracelet area was increased. This happened because they were waiting for the repetition of pain experienced on the previous day.

From this study, it was concluded that memory plays a large role, it affects how we experience pain. That is, the results of the study fully confirmed their assumptions.
